Chapter 20: Thirst

Thrumming hearts...I could hear them. Tugging swallows, I kept my hands in my pockets, my hood up and my head down as I tracked the pairs of feet that walked past me. What was it that I needed? Something was making my throat terribly dry, like I had swallowed itching powder.

My fists were clenched tight as I turned into an alley way. The musty smell was strong. How do people stand this stuff, it reeks. Scrunching up my nose slightly to the foul smell. My target... I didn't think I'd want so badly to fill my desires. They were heavy and throbbing against my chest. Vibrating in my spine the burning of hunger in my throat needed something warm.

Blood

My head screamed at me. An animalistic feral growl rumbling in my throat. Groaning I stumbled in my step stopping a delicious scent flood me sending chills down my spine.

It's target.

I smirked to myself, I couldn't hold back the excitement. I turned my gaze to catch the green eyes of Liu in the dark. Ash was right, well I guess kept to her word. They were going to watch me.

Tugging at the bandana I pulled it down turning away from the other eyes as I approached the man. Slowly with each step I was slipping into my world.

The solid and wet asphalt and cement turning into the swamp and cloudy forest.

The man no longer a man, but a deer.

"Hardly a set of antlers...." I took note of.

"Such a shame you didn't reach the proper age." I mumbled.

The deer was snuffling and making noise at me as I stared at it.

"Hunting season is no longer dormant." I heard Liu whisper in awe.

The man cocked something but it sounded as he clicked his antlers against the ground.

"I'll shoot."

The deer stuttered at me.

I smiled a gentle smile cocking my head to the side.

Time slowed once again, well it was as if I was so fast everything was slow.

Grabbing the deer by its antlers I yanked the buck back and threw him on the ground.

Hearing an ear splitting sound I cringed.

"ZAP!"

A voice sounded from the distance making me intake a sharp breath grabbing the Bucks snout I ripped its jaw apart.

Continuously beating its skull in before stopping seeing the spurting blood run down its neck.

My breathing was hoarse and sounded tortured.

"Eat, eat eat...." I groaned.

Opening my mouth to devour what I could.

Gasping I awoke against the wall. Coughing a liquid into my bandana.

Standing around me was Liu, Ash, and Puppet.

"You are one of those...huh." Puppet looked down at me her eyes holding no judgement which surprised me from her serious tone.

Liu nodded a smile playing at his lips.

"Should've seen her at the asylum when she broke out." Liu grinned at me helping me up.

"She falls into her own little world, but we'll stop that so you aren't just controlled by urges...we need your brains too." Ash nodded at me.

As we rounded a turn I stopped in shock seeing a man destroyed and half eaten.
