gentle wounds

when, in this lifetime,
has the earth shattered kindly?
i will pick up the broken pieces
and mold them to fit again,
however way they must,
but not for a single moment
shall you be permitted to push me aside.
i would give you the world
and i would watch you steal it back
and i would do it all with no hesitation.
you owe me gentle. you owe me kind.
so if my world has to shatter
in order for yours to regain clarity,
let the earth shatter softly.
