On the verge of tears

Entry 2

August 3rd 1914

I didn't get to write anything yesterday; My grandpa got extremely sick and I had to take care of him with my grandma. It was a devastating day, but I got through it.

As I walked in the streets today, I saw posters to encourage the men to join the army and fight in the war. I felt an aversion towards these posters, because I know myself as a peace lover and I'd never cause harm to anyone. However, what shock me is that one of my friends is actually considering joining the army! I honestly think he's crazy for even considering that.

More war news, People are saying something about Germany invading nearby countries. I'm not really good at geography, but I've heard it's Belgium and Luxembourg.

I feel bad for all the people out there who had to leave their countries because of this stupid war...Things couldn't get worse right? It'll be over by Christmas...right?
