"Lily?!"
"What mom..." I said
"Come eat breakfast before your first day of 9th grade!"
So I got dressed and walked downstairs with my journal. I ate my Cheerios and left the house.

I walked the hallways of Kennedy high school. Everyone talking to their friends and opening their lockers to get their books and homework. I just walked quietly to my locker. Everyone had decorations on their locker but I kept mine plain. After I had gotten all my books I had walked to study hall. In study hall a new kid named, Jillian had sat next to me. I examined Jillian as she got out her books. She had long brown hair with hazel eyes. She was wearing a red shirt that had said in big white words "Stanford Cardinals" I knew that Stanford was a college and I had predicted hat she wanted to go there. She wore dark blue jeans and white converse. Her handwriting was very neat. As soon as she had noticed that I was sitting there she had said "hi what's your name" I murmured " Lily Hoffman" she had said "I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you" I just opened my book and started to read. She just kept staring at me as if she was examining me just like I had examined her. She went back to her book.
After 40 minutes study hall had ended.

I walked back to my locker and headed for P.E. My worst subject. Jillian was there. Apparently, we had Study Hall and P.E. together. We had to run a lap around the field and then we climbed the rope. I never made it all the way up the rope. As I made it 2 feet off the ground then jumped down people would laugh. And laugh. And laugh. Which is the reason why I'm shy. In 7th grade we had to climb the rope. I was so determined to get all the way up. But then, as soon as I started climbing I got scared I jumped down crying as people laughed at me. I ran to the locker rooms and just sat there and cried. Ever since then I hadn't wanted to talk with any of the other kids, I thought they were rude and mean.

Lunch. Just lunch. It had to be the worst part of my day. I never have a place to sit because everyone has their own little cliques. There's the jocks, populars, geeks, nerds, gamers, ASB, and the others. I'm apart of the others. We sit by the trash can on the floor or sometimes we'll get the dirty table in the corner. I sat at the dirty table that day. All of the sudden Jillian walks over and sits next to me. I swear that girl is starting to scare me.  She said " I never caught your name earlier" I just wrote it down on a piece of paper. Then she asked "why do you never speak to anyone" I just walked away and threw my lunch away.

After all the periods had passed I was on the bus. And there was Jillian just walking down the isle looking for a place to sit. Then when she saw me she sat down right next to me. She said, "I don't know what your problem is but I want to be your friend, and you don't have to say anything" I just froze in surprise. I thought nobody wanted to be my friend because I never wanted to talk to them. I didn't know Jillian wanted to be my friend. But I guess I'll be hers to. I responded in a kindly manor "Jillian. I want to be your friend too" Jillian smiled. She took out her phone and then added my name and asked "what's your phone number" I told her my phone number. As my bus came to a stop I started to walk down the isle and before I got off the bus I waved to Jillian and walked home. As I got home I did my homework and ate dinner. When I finished dinner I walked upstairs to write in my journal.
This is what I had said
"Dear journal,
Today was a kind of good day. I met a girl named Jillian and now I have my first best friend. But other than that, I sat at the dirty table and had tough but good classes today.
Sincerely, Lily"
After I had written in my journal I went to sleep.
