So many people have read this and it's insane, I wanted to say thank you so much again! I know this chapter is shorter, but I've been extremely busy and I apologize. I would honestly really appreciate it if more people commented so I know if I'm going in the right direction with this fanfic or if I should change anything...

That feeling Usagi got before a fight was in full force spreading throughout his body. First, his stomach would swirl with fear, then his palm would feel light and tingly, next his heartbeat would pound in his ears. Usagi has heard people tell him it was just his fear getting a hold of him, but he didn't want to believe that. No, instead Usagi told himself that it was excitement making him feel this way. Obviously, that could be the only plausible answer to these sensations because he's never lost a fight. In fact, he's never even stumbled except for getting a small gash right above his eyebrow- but that became a scar very quickly.

Getting his fighting robes fitted to him by Big Mama's goons, Usagi's stomach began flip-flopping around in anticipation. Stage 1 of excitement. Usagi noted to himself. The next stage was surely soon to come, but Usagi had more important information to process. Who was he going to fight? How many yokai was he going to fight, more importantly?

"You ready Usagi?" The goon to his right asked, tightening a hem on his shoulder.

"Ready as I'll ever be," Usagi replied, giving a half-smile. Usagi hated when people asked him questions he couldn't exactly reply to properly, so he always settled for a smile.

"I heard you're fighting some kind of kraken thing, have ya ever heard that?" The goon questioned. Of course Usagi had heard of the kraken, it'd be considered odd not to have heard of it.

The Kraken was a large beastly creature with tentacle arms that almost had minds of their own. Though the Kraken was large, it had incredibly good aim and could kill any target in mere seconds- or at least that was a rumor heard amongst the Battle Nexus champions, such as himself.

"I have... do you know if there will be any other challengers?" Usagi asked, making sure to choose his words carefully.

"Not that I know of, but you do know how Big Mama loves to alter the terms at the last second."
A loud ear-ringing buzzer came from the stadium, and Usagi could hear all the yokai cheering. Not cheering for him to win, cheering for him to lose. The crowd wanted to see blood, his blood, and Usagi could only wait to see what would happen next.

"I think they're ready for you." The goon to his left said, tapping his arm and signaling to a door that led to the entrance of the arena.

"Good luck."

—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Hueso! It's him! Your server, the rabbit-boy! Usagi!" Leo said, still in shock from seeing the rabbit-boys face on a large screen TV.

"Yes, so it is..." Hueso shrugged, "Now what would you like to order?"

"How do I get to the Battle Nexus Arena?" Leo said, completely interrupting Hueso.

"Ehhh... you should not be going there, the players are dangerous and even the yokai in the stands are scary."

"I can just portal myself! Ha! Thanks for the idea, Bone-Man!" With that, Leo drew his sword and formed a circle in the air for him to jump through.

"Glad to be of assistance." Hueso said, rolling his eyes as Leo's portal closed.

Now, Leo was in the center of the first row of the Battle Nexus Arena. The crowd was insane as they were loud, and Leo couldn't blame them. A huge beast crawled around the floor of the arena awaiting its prey. His heart beating louder, Leo hoped that the prey this beast was looking for wasn't that boy, Usagi.

Usagi, Usagi, Usagi.

The more Leo repeated the boy's name in his head the more it felt right, the sweeter it felt lingering in the back of his mind, the more beautiful it blossomed into something more. Something Leo wasn't quite ready to accept.

"MIYAMOTO USAGI! THE BATTLE NEXUS CHAMPION AND SAMURAI RABBIT IS NOW ENTERING THE ARENA TO FIGHT THE UNDEFEATED KRAKEN!!!"

The speakers overhead snapped Leo's focus back to the stage. Usagi couldn't die right? That wasn't possible, that couldn't be possible, he was a champion! Plus, what good would it be for Leo's boy to die before they even truly spoke?

Leo's boy. Leo smiled to himself at the thought, but he didn't want to let his mind get too far ahead. First, and more importantly, Usagi needed to live. He had to live.

There he was, Miyamoto Usagi, walking so carelessly into the pit, like he had the whole situation under control.

—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Usagi definitely didn't have this under control. His hands were shaking, his rabbit nose was twitching, and his eyes were darting in each direction in an attempt to predict each possible move.

Usagi definitely didn't have this under control. He gulped, and held his sword now steady to the Kraken growling down at him. He was excited. Yep, that's what this was! All this excitement was driving him insane.

Usagi definitely didn't have this under control. Wholly crap this thing was much larger in person than any tale or legend he had ever been told. Today could actually be the day he might die, but he wasn't going to go down without a fight.

"RAHH!" Usagi screamed, plunging head-first into the direction of the Kraken. The crowd roared, but Usagi had trained his ears a long time ago to drown the noise out. He needed to focus.

A large tentacle swung at him from his right, just barely missing his legs as Usagi jumped over it and stabbed his sword into the base. Holding onto the hilt of his sword, Usagi was flung up into the air and slashed about violently.

Usagi's eyesight became blurred, and he was feeling quite lightheaded. Gathering all of his strength he attempted to regain focus, letting go of his sword and lunging straight down toward the Kraken's face- or lack thereof.

Usagi plunged his sword into the Kraken repeatedly yet it seemed to barely affect it, at most give the Kraken a simple scratch. Growing more frustrated by the second, Usagi lept onto a tentacle without thinking.

Normally, Usagi never acted without thinking, but there was no time to think, no time to process- there was only time to act- and act Usagi did. Running laps around the base of the Kraken (mostly to avoid being hit), Usagi noticed the Kraken couldn't focus on his target as well. Usagi took note of this, but before he could do anything about it a tentacle came from above him and smashed him hard into the ground.

Darkness.

That's all there was, darkness.

That, and a sharp unmistakable pain in his ribs and arms.

Is this death? Usagi questioned. He could barely breathe, and the little air he could process was shaky and fading rapidly.

This has to be death.

—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For facing such a large enemy, Usagi was doing amazing. Leo was impressed and frankly jealous of Usagi's skill. Each and every move Usagi made had meaning, he made it look so easy, but Leo could tell Usagi was also growing tired. Leo knew all too well what being tired could do to a being, and fear started to trickle down his back.

Leo's heart rate picked up as Usagi ran laps around the Kraken, studying its movements, learning its weaknesses.

"USAGI LOOK OUT!" Leo screamed as he noticed the Kraken's tentacle swinging around above Usagi. Leo knew out of the millions of yokai in the crowd Usagi definitely couldn't hear him, but he still shouted anyway.

A loud, crunching noise was all Leo needed to know... Usagi was severely injured- or worse- dead.

"USAGI NO!!!"
