Your eyes slowly fluttered open.
Almost immediately after, you squinted. Wherever you were, it was way too bright. It didn't take you long to come to the conclusion that it was just a ray of moonlight shining upon you.
Your head turned to your side, and it was at that moment that you realised your head was being supported by something really soft.
By then, everything started to sink in. You shot up from your lying position with a jolt of surprise. Where were you?
You looked down to see that many fancy-looking purple blankets were covering most of your body. The mattress you were sitting on was huge. When you looked up, you saw so many pretty lanterns hanging off of the ceiling.
On your left was a bookcase that was somewhat organized. Groups of books were stacked in all sorts of different ways - vertical, horizontal, diagonal or even just straight up stacked on top of each other.
Steadying yourself, you slowly got up from the bed. You placed your feet on the ground so lightly, you didn't even hear them touch the floor.
You looked down at your feet. Yep, you were still barefoot. But something was different about you.
First of all, your feet weren't filthy and covered in dust and dirt like it was the last time you saw them.
And second, you were wearing something that definitely wasn't yours. It was some sort of nightgown. Baby blue. It had light, puffy sleeves and some sort of floral pattern on it as decoration.
It's one thing to suddenly wake up with clean feet but this? This was just wrong and downright creepy.
You looked up and around the room. Now that you were out of bed, it was clear that the room was much bigger than you thought it was. There were many more lanterns from this side of view, too. They were all hung up from the ceiling, and they looked hand-crafted.
You craned your neck to get a better view. As you mindlessly walked around the room without a sound, you noticed that there were many paintings and drawings across the walls, too.
Even though the room was dark, one thing was abundantly clear.
Whoever this room belonged to had some sort of obsession with the Sun.
You weren't even joking. It was like everywhere you looked, there was a picture of the Sun on it. There on the blanket, over there on the pillows stuffed in between the books in the bookcase, up there on the lanterns. They were on the ceiling, on whatever was holding up what looked to be curtains on the side of the bed...everywhere.
Despite it being almost pitch black with only the moon and the tiny lanterns illuminating the room, it felt like every one of those knitted, painted, or drawn Suns were the sources of light.
And you for one, did not like it one bit.
You were in unfamiliar clothing, in an unfamiliar room, with absolutely no memory or idea of what happened to you. Plus now everywhere you looked, it was like the Suns that gawked back at you were alive...and judgmental. What exactly was there to like??
You closed your eyes and took a deep breath. You shouldn't be worrying. You were going to get out of here with no problem at all.
Of course, you didn't know that for sure. But you did know what would happen if you were to start freaking out. Destruction.
Uncontrollable destruction.
And you didn't need any more blood on your hands.
Suddenly you stopped moving. You found yourself in the centre of the room. A humongous door to your right, and the window the moon shone through on your left. Both clear passageways of escape.
