Hope

Few days later
She tried opening her eyes. It proved way more difficult than she had anticipated. She still didn't have feeling of her body yet, meaning that she was probably dead.
Once she managed to open them, after a lot of squinting and closing them due to the brightness of the place, the first thing she saw was a white ceiling. Yeah. Most definitely dead.
As much as she could and without moving her body too much, she looked around. She felt a little woozy, so she guessed this was the reason she wasn't panicking.
She quickly realised that she was inside a room. And it was quite different from what she would have expected. If she was dead and she was in hell, because everyone said this was were she'd end up, then hell was a weird place. Besides, she couldn't exactly place a finger on it, but hell felt a lot more... Homey and.. Safe. She didn't know why or how.
After what felt like hours when in reality it was seconds, everything came crashing down. The pains and aches on her body, the headache, her dry throat.
She tried standing up but fell back down. Her arms were way too weak.
She was a little confused about what was happening, but decided to lay down. Besides, whoever wasted so much time patching her up, didn't do that to hurt her later, they would have done it already. That's what her gut told her anyway.
Besides, they bothered enough to get her to a bed. When was the last time she had slept or even laid on a bed? The softness of the pillows and the blanket on top of her.. She felt like she was in a cloud.
She brushed her fingers on the soft material, her eyes falling on her bandaged hands. After a quick scan, she discovered she looked like a mummy rather than a human with the amount of gauze that she was wrapped with. Strange. She had to thank whoever did this regardless.
She was alive, that much she could tell. Though she had no idea what she would do at this point forward. She took a deep breath and let it out. Baby steps. Baby steps.
She was feeling extremely calm. Like, it surprised even her. She guessed it was drugs. They had put something in that bag over her head and that's what was keeping her docile. Logical enough.
She turned her head and saw on a table a small device with a red button on top. Was this something? Should she press it? She didn't take too much time to think it through, she pressed it and waited. For what she didn't know.
She really wanted to drink some water. But she didn't know if she was allowed to. She could ask though. Let's hope they wouldn't get mad at her.
Not two seconds later the door bursted open, startling her. She whipped her head in that direction, but otherwise made no movement to get away. There was no point anyway. They couldn't be worse than her husband or them.
The man on the door seemed frantic. His hair was all over the place, taking deep breaths, his hands on his knees. Was he running?
"Hello miss" He spoke after he regained his composure and came towards her.
She tilted her head but otherwise remained silent.
"How are you feeling? Do you have any pains anywhere? Anything feeling uncomfortable?" He stood way to close to her, but.. She found that comforting. Being so close she was able to see his face clearly.
She didn't think she would find anyone that attractive. And he seemed to be a doctor. The only doctors she had met were old and wrinkly, smelled disgusting and did unimaginable things to her. But with him, she almost felt safe. He seemed familiar, like they had spent time together.
