Tonight is the championship game and it's also Gunner and Travis' last high school football game. I'm sad that this is the last game that I'll be a cheerleader on the sidelines cheering for my brother.
They are both playing at the same school at a college about an hour away. It's not far at all but everything is about to change. I've still got my junior and senior year to go. It's always been the three of us. I'm not sure what I'm going to do without them here. My eyes start to tear up at the thought but the crowd starts screaming as the team comes out of the tunnel, and I'm back to being excited.
It was a close game but they managed to get the win! I'm so proud of Travis and Gunner, the 'dynamic duo' as the entire school calls them. They played the game of their lives and I can't wait to celebrate tonight at the end of season bonfire.
Before we can make it out of the house after we all came home to change, dad stops us. "Travis, Gunner I'm so proud of you both. Go celebrate and have fun. Don't do anything stupid and keep an eye on Alayna."
Travis ruffles my hair and laughs and tells dad "Don't worry dad, we'll take care of her."
At that moment my eyes lock with Gunner for a split second before he looks away and walks out the door to the truck.
