Women,
not angels or saints
like poets said;
nor perfect Venere as artists painted.
Girls,
not witches or magicians like men supposed, burned alive for no sin
other than been born;
nor inferior or useless as society is trying to convince them.

History has put her a step behind,
choices have placed her into cages;
shut her up and aside from the eyes.
Yet still she survived.
She kept going through the struggle,
head high and goals forward.
To the sun,
towards the light,
not going back,
never settle for less than what's deserved.
