The next morning, Wyatt awoke, feeling a sense of dread in the air but he shook that off and threw on his clothes, and headed out to his office with a sense of duty. As he walked closer to the studio he felt this need to shoot her down before she had the chance to hurt him again and he was certain that if she tried anything today, he would do just that. After about an hour of waiting, he heard a knock at the studio door and said"Come in" as he laid the manuscripts out on the table. They both read in silence, facing away from each other, hoping that the other would talk first but it didn't happen.
This eventually dragged on for two hours until Kimberly walked over and sat down, regardless of her circumstances, she had a job to do and by god, she was going to do it. She sat next to him and said" Mr. Carson I've finished editing and well the manuscript and structure are great however, your scenes in these areas that I've highlighted in red should be prolonged a bit more". Wyatt paused before saying"C-could you elaborate for me". She pauses for a minute; surprised they aren't arguing before she snaps out of it and says"Well these scenes need to be longer and filled with more emotion and description..in other words, it should be more immersive and the reader should feel like they are looking right into it".
He nods and says "I understand, I guess those parts were so boring I wanted to quickly rush through them...sometimes I don't have any patience y'know".Kimberly says that's alright but for example, look at this first scene here where Isabella admits her feelings to Frankie, it lacks emotion and dramatic tenseness of the atmosphere...I mean uh if someone confessed to you, under those conditions your emotions would flood over and I feel that's how Frankie should react before running away because he just can't handle it". Wyatt sighed and said, "Whatever, after all, you do know about running away from things".
Kimberly rolled her eyes and continued to explain the rest of her markings and with each one, she endured another snarky comment. She sighed and said, "Mr. Carson I would appreciate it if you would stop acting like a child and be an adult until we finish this!" Wyatt laughed and said"Look at you...the obnoxious, and selfish woman is trying to tell me to act like an adult when all you ever did was act like an egotistical girl who was better than everyone!" She sighed and said"Will you let that shit go and give me a chance to speak and explain" and he said," No, you don't get to explain...you don't get to fix our relationship, you don't get to do anything but sit there and do your job!" She stood up and said, "Look who's egotistical now... let's be clear, I went easy on you and kept the guys from kicking your ass".
Wyatt said sarcastically"Oh thank you my guardian angel for stopping the others so you could bully me exclusively...you know I don't even feel bad we stopped being friends because you were fake and two-faced from the start". She lost her temper and said"I'm sorry that I couldn't tell you I loved you at the time or help you fight your battles...I had enough shit going on, maybe my status was all I had! I won't bother troubling you with the details but I wasn't ready to be abused at school and home at the same time... I probably would've killed myself if that happened".
She continued and said"If you can't accept that I've at least changed and respect that and treat me like an adult, then fuck you...we all make mistakes and we learn and feel remorse...Yeah, I fucked up but I'm trying my best to rewrite that wrong or at least atone for it but you're the one who's hostile, full of yourself, and cannot look with understanding because you're so blinded by rage, Mr. Carson".
Before Wyatt could say anything, she rushed out the door, scurried to her car, and pulled off before he could catch up and stop her. He was shocked that for 1; she liked him and he didn't pick up on it and 2; that she possibly could've been acting out from issues elsewhere. He was a little baffled so he went back inside and sat for a bit, processing exactly what had happened, before he tidied up the paperwork and logged it as future revisions.
Once again, Kimberly drove home upset, only this time, she felt like she might throw up. When she arrived home, she ran up to her bedroom, pulled out a lock box from under her bed, and opened it. Inside was an assortment of drugs which were highly illegal but ensured one a fun and feelingless time. She took them out and prepared to take them...desperate to escape reality. First, she made something to eat and then took a molly and then a Percocet, lit a cigarette for a few minutes before extinguishing it and falling out to enjoy her high. She had been doing this for about a year now and saw it as a way to cope with the PTSD she suffered. Unbeknownst to anyone at school, she would constantly get hit and berated by her stepfather at home.
When she told her mother, she would tell her that he didn't mean it or make up some other excuse for him which further increased the rift between the mother and daughter. Kimberly was highly insecure about herself thanks to years of her stepfather's beratement. Her cockiness and false self-confidence were all she had however, her motives for Wyatt got even more twisted from there.
