Chapter 23: Pending Confrontation

Kimberly nodded and said, " I get it now, but it still hurts and I'm scared to go yet I know I have to".Wyatt looked at her confused and said "Why? If you don't want to see those people and see the negativity, then don't go". Kimberly smiled and said, " I need to go for my mother and more importantly, I need to go so I can face him". Wyatt said " And what if your stepdad tries to kill you now that your mom's not here?" she said then I'll just kill him and claim self-defense but don't worry I'll be wearing a body cam that backs up to the cloud. once I catch him I'll send him to jail or if he does try to harm me I'll end him".She looked at Wyatt and said, "I'm tired of living in fear of him, I'm tired of the nightmares, the only way to stop it all is to face him".

Wyatt said"At least let me go" and she smiled and said, "Trust me, I'll be back in one piece okay but this is something between me and my family?". Wyatt nodded and looked down in disappointment before Kimberly patted his head and said" It's gonna be alright, when I get back I got a big surprise for you".

The rest of the day, Kimberly packed up and got ready mentally to go back home. The next morning, Wyatt drove her to the airport around noon and stayed to see her off. Despite their hometown being in North Carolina, she opted to fly instead of drive all the way out there. He walked her all the way to the terminal and waited with her, held her hands, and told her how strong she was and how proud he was to be her friend which helped lift her mood greatly. Before boarding the plane, Kimberly leaned over, gave him a kiss on the cheek, and said "See you later, I love you...bestie and boarded without looking back as she was blushing hard.

Once everyone had boarded and the pilot made announcements, they took off. Amazingly, Kimberly was not scared anymore to go home, if anything she had a sense of determination and there was a good reason. She had promised herself she would tell Wyatt how she feels once she overcame her emotional mess and she saw this as the way. Even if he said no, she still would be able to move on and love again and live alone without fear or insecurities. This was her final boss battle she only had one life and she intended to win it". An hour later, the plane landed and she disembarked and headed through the terminal where she met her aunt.

The two exchanged a hug and a "hello, before heading out to her car".As they made the long drive into town, her aunt decided to chat with her. She said, "I honestly didn't think you'd show up after everything that happened" Kimberly said, "Of course, I would... I need to see her off and face him one more time". Her aunt said"Don't tell me you came to start a fight" Kimberly said," No I don't, I intend to face him and tell him how I feel about him in private....whatever happens next is up to him but I'm prepared if he gets violent". Her aunt said"May I ask exactly what brought on this desire to suddenly do all this?" Kimberly said, "I'm living with my coworker and this boy I like since my home was destroyed a few months ago and I lost everything. Once he found out about the nightmares that man gave me".

Kimberly clenched her fists before saying" I had to tell him everything and even though he's been there accepting all my panic attacks and staying up with me through my nightmares, I don't want this to be a forever thing. I want to start a normal life with him when I get back and move out of his shadow and into the sun...even if Wyatt doesn't accept my feelings I still want this for me".Her aunt laughed before saying"You're kidding yourself sweet...that guy loves you". Kimberly said"h-how do you know?". Her aunt smiled and said, "your mom didn't teach you shit that you needed to know so when you left I thought that it'd be pretty hard for you to live alone but you proved me wrong". 

Kimberly giggled and said, "Well you weren't wrong...my place was a mess but he helped and taught me things and well I guess I've grown into a better person from when he met me".Her aunt smiled and said, "Honey, it's love, trust me, your aunt has been around 48 years, she's seen it all".Kimberly blushed and said, "I-I'll take your word for it and tell him once this is over".Her aunt said"That's a good girl, now let me give you a warning ahead of time... we're going back to your old house. Kimberly looked worried until her aunt said, "Don't worry I'm staying too and he knows not to get disrespectful with me...also a few other family members will be staying there too so please try to get along".

Kimberly smiled sarcastically and said"No promises" which prompted her aunt to say"Be nice or else I'll find this guy of yours and call him down here, im sure he'd come running". Kimberly grunted and said, "Fine but if they start acting like they know what happened then I just might have to leave or risk getting arrested". Her aunt sighed and said, "That's what I'm here for... to set liars straight".Kimberly nodded and said, "alright, then there'll be no issues and we can all get this over with and return to our respective lives afterward".
