Wyatt was hot and sweaty as he sat at this restaurant waiting for his and Kimberly's order. It had been 2weeks now since they had started dating and Wyatt was already feeling like he had failed horribly. After another 10 minutes, their food was brought out but It wasn't what they ordered and Wyatt's stomach was growling loudly already. Hearing this, Kimberly looked at him before sighing and saying" You know, I was just kidding when I said you had to formally take me on a date". Wyatt looked down and blushed really hard before saying "I'm sorry, I'm trying to be a good husband and take you out but I'm not doing too well already". Kimberly grabbed his hand and walked him out of the restaurant and back to the car".
She started the engine and drove until they were nearly smack dab in the middle of nowhere which confused Wyatt until she walked him up a hill and he saw the city in all its beauty along with the many fireflies. She sat down and started laughing pretty hard which upset Wyatt a bit. He scurried off the hill trying to get back to the car but a hand grabbed his. When he turned around, he saw Kimberly. She smiled and said, "You gotta relax dude, and understand that yes we are engaged but nothing's changed,I don't expect anything different except more affection but that's a given obviously".
She said "I don't need fancy dates, new dresses or diamond necklaces or anything. A night playing video games, stargazing, or even just editing while eating pizza is just fine with me. All I need is you and that makes anything and everything fun Wyatt...you are my happiness, my sunshine, the words that fill the book of love that is my heart". Wyatt blushed before tearing up and saying"I love you so much Kimberly". She giggled and said"I love you too" before she pulled him into a kiss. Afterwards, they walked back up the hill together hand in hand, and gazed at the fireflies and twinkling lights of the city.
The next few months went by smoothly and before they knew it, almost a year had now passed, and only a few things ever changed. Kimberly stopped having nightmares about her stepdad and began being more productive. As for Wyatt, he was still shocked that he had a girlfriend now and that she had grown more responsible. She would often be the one cleaning and griping at him for leaving his office messy or his notes everywhere. Initially, their coworkers were shocked but eventually, they got used to it and were very accepting. Due to Kimberly's nagging, Wyatt went home, and together, they visited his mother and she was very happy to see him.
With the help of Wyatt, Kimberly did start publishing her stories but since the company wouldn't accept any more writers at this time, she opted to co-write with Wyatt and split the profits since they were soon to be married anyway. Everything was business as usual with a few surprises here and there but all in all the the couple was having the time of their lives and they knew that as long as they were together, they would keep growing and always find the sunlight in the cloudiest of days.
