"He asked me to be his girlfriend!" Lucy beamed through my computer screen.
"THAT IS SO EXCITING!" I exclaimed back at her. "And you said yes?"
"Duh! He's cute, and smart, and nice...." she went on "How could I not?!" I giggled at her response. "I have to go. Mom said dinners ready."
"Oh yeah i totally forgot about the time difference. It's lunch time here. Okay love you bye" I hung up. I closed my laptop and grabbed my keys.
"Where are you going?" Elaine glanced up at me.
"Movies. Come with me?" I gave her puppy dog eyes.
"Nah I have like three hours of homework." She looked unamused.
"You don't have any classes today or tomorrow and you have been watching Netflix since you woke up."
"And your point is?"
"Come to the movies with me."
"Ugh fine." She groaned, peeling her body off of her bed. We arrived at the theater and found our seats after getting snacks. When we were about ten minutes in, I heard a voice whisper my name from behind me.
"Tara?"
"Huh!?" I yelled on accident, whipping my head around.
"SHHHHH!" Elaine said next to me. I continued frantically searching the theater to make sure I didn't have the FBI after me or something.
"Tara It's me!" The voice said again.
"Who are you?" I whispered back.
"Nick!" He laughed.
"Ohhhhh!" I leaned my head back in relief. I noticed a bunch of people staring at me so i took it as my queue to stop talking. I waved back with a smile and turned towards the screen again.
After the movie ended, Elaine went back to the car while I waited outside of the theater to catch up with nick. It had been over a week since i met him and we've hung out twice since then.
"I didn't know you were here!" I smiled as I saw him walk out of the theater with his friend.
"I swear I'm not stalking you! Turns out we just both like horror movies." He said in defense.
"I guess so." I looked at his eyes. They were a lot darker than I remember.
"We were gonna go get food if you guys wanted to come?" He clicked his tongue.
"For sure! Let me ask Elaine real quick." I walked a few feet away and called Elaine. "Nick and his friend asked if we want to go eat with them." I told her.
"Please yes I'm starving." She laughed
"Okay I'll meet you in the car." Nick told me the plan and I went outside to find Elaine. We all met at some random sports bar a few miles down the road. It was kind of busy because there was a Michigan State game on. We stayed for a little while after we finished eating because we ended up getting really invested in football.
"I HAVE to go. I have so much homework it is insane." Elaine declared, slamming her hands on the table.
"Okay let's go then!" I rolled my eyes. "Bye guys it was great seeing you!"
"You too!" They both responded as we left. When we got to our dorm, Elaine immediately sat at her desk and started her homework. I figured I should do mine too, but it wasn't easy considering Elaine is the type of person to blast music while she studies. I need complete silence while i work or else my brain shuts down.
"You have got to get some headphones." I complained.
"The Weeknd helps me focus."
"Said nobody ever." She stuck her tongue out at me and I grabbed all of my books and shoved them into a backpack. "I'm going to the library!" I said as I flipped her off.
