Author's Note:
I am not sure if I am able to finish the whole fanfic on time or not. My semester break will end in a few weeks and I might go on hiatus until I have more free time. As I write this chapter, I am still unsure what to name this fanfic yet, and what kind of cover would I create for this very story. I intended to make it a dark romance, but I'm not sure if I could deliver what goes into my mind justice.

Y/N'S POV

Stepping into the Potion classroom, a mix of anticipation and unease washed over me, as I surveyed the scene before me. The room was abuzz with activity, students bustling about, already paired up and ready to embark on their journey of concocting the Draught of Peace potion. However, to my dismay, I found myself without a partner, a solitary figure amidst the sea of duos.

As my gaze wandered, searching for a potential companion, it unexpectedly locked onto the last person I would have anticipated: Tom Riddle.

The mysterious and reserved student, known for his exceptional intellect and aura, stood alone, seemingly unaffected by the commotion around him.

Our eyes met briefly, and I couldn't help but wonder what fate had in store for us.

Interrupting my thoughts, Professor Slughorn's jovial voice resonated through the room, drawing everyone's attention

Interrupting my thoughts, Professor Slughorn's jovial voice resonated through the room, drawing everyone's attention. "Ah, Y/N Scamander and Mr. Riddle, it appears you two are without partners. Well, it seems you'll have to work together today."

A mixture of surprise and curiosity coursed through me as I absorbed the professor's words.

Tom Riddle is going to be my partner during the potion class. That's such an unexpected twist.

Meeting Tom's gaze once more, I noticed a subtle shift in his demeanour.

His eyes usually unreadable, now seemed distant and cold. We literally spent the previous night studying together and how he's acting like this?

Nevertheless, I nodded in silent acceptance of Professor Slughorn's decision, ready to face this unforeseen challenge.

Tom's voice, devoid of warmth, broke the silence between us. "So, Y/N, would you prefer to handle the preparation of the base or the remaining steps of the potion?"

I'm pretty sure handling the rest would be a great option here, since he taught me how to do it. I should challenge my knowledge and my skills.
