The Straw Hats were on the seas once again after leaving Little Garden, continuing their adventure through the Grand Line on the quest to return Princess Vivi back to her home island of Alabasta. "Don't bother looking back cause we're going straight ahead!" Luffy exclaimed with a smile as the Going Merry soared through the air. Mirai smiled at the sight before her. She never imagined the sea being this beautiful when they were up in the air.
If only he could see me now! Mirai thought to herself with the smile still across her face as the Merry landed back on the waters. It then departed for the next island on their Grand Line adventure as she looked back at Little Garden, watching it fade away into view. Once it was gone, she turned to face the sea before them. She couldn't help but smile at Luffy over how happy he was. She couldn't blame him there.
Once all was calm, the hybrid rejoined the group. Well, mostly with the boys even if she enjoyed hanging with the ladies. Usopp was then rambling about going to Elbaf one day, and Luffy joined in on the fun with the slinger's wish. Mirai chuckled, liking how goofy but yet serious the two could get while in combat. At the same time, she began to think about her own personal dream on making antidotes for illnesses and making new friends. The first half of her dream had came to life, but the other was going to take awhile. After all, she was a doctor's assistant but didn't exactly know a lot about doctoring.
She then heard Nami panting heavy as she turned to look at her. "Are you alright? You look pale. You sure you don't want me to look at you?" Mirai asked Nami. She hesitated but changed the subject afterwards. "Since when do they get so much energy?" she asked Mirai, who shrugged and said, "Don't know. Guess they're always active like that." It shocked the hybrid on how Nami would change the subject like that.
"It's so strange that after everything we've been through, I'm suddenly exhausted," Nami added, soon making Mirai worried. She was about to say something, mostly over the fact that she could check Nami, but Nami then asked Vivi to watch the compass for her. The princess agreed as she took it in her hands. The whole Nami looking pale thing actually was wiped away from Mirai's mind as the three women(and single duck companion)looked at it and smiled. "You're finally going back. Soon you'll return to Alabasta. Well, that is if we can make it there safely without any surprises," Nami spoke.
Vivi nodded, agreeing with Nami. Mirai had to agree as well, yet Nami still continued to worry her. She never told the Straw Hats that she was a doctor's assistant. Heck, even hearing that the guy from the Reverse Mountain lighthouse being one made memories flash before her eyes of her mentor, who was a doctor trained by her mistress, who then trained her. Mirai still had her books in her backpack and some essentials needed just in case.
Soon, the smile faded from Vivi's face. "I will return home. Alive," she spoke. Luffy and Usopp had stopped playing around to hear and see her face. Even Mirai was surprised as well as the wind whipped her hair. Sanji soon came out of the Merry's kitchen, cheering Vivi up as he presented the three women with some petit fours. "...I've even made some delicious tarts in the flavors of coffee and tea," he said wrapping it up. Vivi smiled and thanked Sanji, Mirai not hesitating and taking a petit four from the tray. She smiled as she gulped it down. "It's so yummo!" she exclaimed with a smile. Sanji also smiled after hearing Mirai's compliment.
After hearing Mirai talk, Luffy, Usopp, and even Karoo all began to drool over the desserts. "Hey! Yours are in the kitchen!" Sanji snarled to the boys, who immediately took off to the kitchen to get theirs. Mirai laughed as she watched the boys scurry up to the kitchen like kids in a candy store. "Oh you boys," the hybrid said to herself. They almost reminded her of her mentor and best friend in a way, yet she didn't see Nami's vision blurr.
Zoro was on another part of the ship, complaining to himself about not being able to cut through Mr. 3's wax from back on Little Garden as he trained to himself, the ladies still continuing to chill on the main deck of the Merry. Vivi and Mirai continued to look at the Alabasta compass together all before Nami sighed and said very weakly, "Mirai? Vivi? I hate to say this but...I'm gonna go lie down." Vivi smiled and said, "Of course! I'll keep a check on our course."
