Chapter 15 - Wait...WHAT?

The weeks flew by as Lili and Terzo prepared for their wedding. Soon, it was one week until Halloween. They were having their rehearsal dinner that night at a little Italian bistro down the street from them. She was going to finally meet his brother Copia that she had heard so much about.

Lili had been spending more and more time with Terzo as their nuptials got closer. She had even brought Void over, much to the delight of Kali, who had unofficially become his keeper and best friend.

Terzo was still sleeping when she woke up. She had tossed and turned all night and felt lousy because of it. She headed into the bathroom to shower and get ready for the day. She went to turn on the water when she suddenly got extremely nauseous. She felt her stomach twist and ran to the toilet. She began to dry heave violently. She couldn't get sick now, she still had so much left to do, she thought to herself. She went to the sink and rinsed her mouth. She felt awful. She grabbed her phone and called her boss, letting her know she wouldn't be in today.

She padded back to bed, laying back down with Terzo.

"You ok? I heard you in the bathroom. You're very pale." He said concerned.

"My stomach is really upset this morning. And I'm always pale. It's my normal color." She grumbled.

Terzo got up, putting on a pair of sleep pants and a t-shirt. "Let me make you a scrambled egg and some toast. See if you can hold that down."

"That sounds good. I'm going to text Beth and let her know why I'm not at work today."

Terzo left the room and headed to the kitchen. She decided to call Beth instead.

Beth picked up on the first ring as she usually did.

"Hey chick. Where are you? Martha said you called out sick. What's the matter?"

"I woke up and puked before I got in the shower. I feel terrible. This is the busiest week coming up. I can't be sick!"

"Have you eaten anything yet?"

"Terzo is making me an egg and toast. See if I can hold it down."

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Of course you can, silly. What is it?"

"When was the last time you had your period?"

"Wait, what? Do you think I'm pregnant, Beth? Oh my God, let me look at my app. Hang on."

She opened the app on her phone, scanning back. The end of August. It was the middle of October. Holy crap.

"Beth, I got it August 26th. I missed last month. Oh my God."

"Are you gonna tell Terzo?"

"Of course I am! I have to get a test! Holy shit! Let me call you back."

"Let me know as soon as you find out!!"

"I will. I promise. Love you!"

"Love you too! Good luck!"

They hung up. Lili sat there stunned. A baby. Terzo's baby. How will he react? I guess she'll know soon enough, right?

Terzo came back carrying a tray with her egg and toast and a glass of ginger ale. He placed it in front of her.

"Here you go m'lady. Just for you." He said smiling down at her.

"Thank you. It looks wonderful babe. Sit." She said, patting the bed next to her. "I need to tell you something that Beth said to me."

His brow furrowed. "What is it? Is everything ok?"

She bit her bottom lip. "I think so. I need to go to the drugstore."

"Are you that sick? Should we call the doctor?"

She laughed. "No, nothing like that. I...missed my period last month." She said tentatively, watching for his reaction.

He sat straight up, blinking quickly. "Are you saying..."

She nodded. "I need to take a test and see. I'd be 6 weeks along if I am."

His eyes grew wide. He touched her belly. "You might be carrying my baby?"

"Uh huh. Are you upset?"

"Upset? No! We need to find out! A baby! Come on, let's get dressed and go!" He was so excited.

They got dressed and headed to her car. Terzo was practically skipping down the street. They got in and buckled up. She turned to him as she started the car.

"Babe, listen don't get too excited yet. I've been super busy and sometimes that will cause me to skip. I don't want you to be sad if I'm not, ok?" She said, touching his cheek.

He closed his eyes, took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "You're right. I'll wait til you take the test." He opened his eyes and looked at her with so much love. "And if we're not? We're gonna try over and over until we do!"

She smacked his arm. "You're insatiable Terzo. I swear." She said laughing.

Once at the store, they looked at the multiple options for pregnancy tests. She had no idea there were so many choices!

Terzo grabbed a two pack off the shelf. "How about this one? It says pregnant or not pregnant. Seems easy enough."

"Works for me." As they headed to the register, Lili grabbed a bag of Swedish Fish. Terzo raised his eyebrows.

"What? I love these!"

"Mmhmm." He teased.

They made it home in record time. They went into the bathroom and opened the package. Lili read the instructions while Terzo fidgeted.

"You can't stay in here while I do this babe."

"Why not?" He exclaimed.

"Because I have to pee on a stick! Out! I'll call you in once I'm done."

"Hmph." He grumbled. "I'll be right outside the door."

"I'm sure you will be." She laughed.

She followed the test instructions exactly and placed it upside down on the sink. She set her watch to three minutes and joined Terzo in the bedroom.

"Well?!" He asked excitedly.

"Terzo, it takes three minutes. We have to wait."

He threw his head back and groaned.

"Don't be so dramatic. It's only a couple of minutes, you silly boy." He was too much sometimes.

Her timer dinged. They looked at each other nervously.

"You ready to find out?"

Terzo simply nodded. He looked like he was going to throw up himself. She took his hand and they went into the bathroom together.

"OK, we're gonna take a deep breath, count to three and flip the test over. Are you ready?"

"I think I'm going to faint, but I'm ready." Terzo whispered.

"Please don't do that. " She laughed. "OK, together..."

"One...two...THREE!"

She slowly flipped it over...

"PREGNANT"
