Imperfect

Taylor opens her eyes, and though her vision is blurry with sleep, she can see sunlight through the window on the far side of the bedroom. It's not bright and overbearing, which makes Taylor sigh as she realises that it must be early. She rolls over to find her husband sound asleep, as usual. His mouth is hanging open and he is breathing obnoxiously loud. She rolls her eyes, but really just envies that he doesn't have an early bird internal clock like she does. Instead, he's peacefully drooling on his pillow his brown curls messed up and pink lines on him from the lines of the sheets.

A dip in the mattress signals that someone has joined her on the bed. Meredith wastes no time in announcing her arrival either. The howl of her Scottish fold is undeniable and needy. The cat climbs up onto her stomach and Taylor groans the cat isn't as light as she used to be when she was a kitten, or as playful. The older she gets the moodier she gets, but Taylor still adores her.  "What's up Mere?" Taylor pets her head tenderly, her voice gruff, "you hungry?" The meow she gets in response is very diva. Before Taylor can even manage to get out of the covers, her ears are met with a new cry. She glances over at Harry, but he's still asleep. "Looks like you'll have to wait." She tells her grumpy cat before climbing out of the bed, stopping only to press a kiss to Harry's shoulder first.

Taylor quickly makes her way to the next room, wiping sleep from her tired eyes. Her mood shifts a little when she sees tiny feet and hands squirming about in the crib. A warm smile pulls at her lips. Her baby girl is awake and no doubt hungry. She reaches down and scoops up her daughter, cradling her to her own chest she sways a little talking as she does. "Well, well good morning to you too..." she coo's in her best baby voice. "What's the matter sweetie? You're hungry too, aren't you?" After showering her soft head with kisses and inhaling the sweet baby smell from the bit of brown curly hair on top of her head then she notices another, more unpleasant, smell. "Someone needs a diaper changed." Taylor grimaces. Diaper duty is defiantly her least favourite part of parenting but at least it's not forever.  Thankfully this morning isn't too bad a job. When she finishes her little girl finally has a cute smile on her adorable face. "All better now?" Taylor asks, bouncing her playfully.

The arm wrapping around Taylor's waist startles her at first, but then she leans back into the embrace. "I think daddy's awake." She whispers to her child, pressing a kiss to her head again. "After diaper change too, how inconvenient." She giggles as Harry chuckles behind her. She can feel his chest shaking behind her back. "How are my girls?" he asks, chin settling on Taylor's shoulder so he can watch his daughter as Taylor cradles her. "Hungry." She quips and there's a meow at her feet. Meredith wandering between her legs as she stands, refusing to let her presence be forgotten this morning. Taylor laughs, "All three of us are."
"Which ones should I take care of?" he rubs her shoulders while she thinks. Staring at the baby she decides, "Feed Meredith and put a pot of coffee on. I'll take care of this little one." She states as she lifts the baby up to see Harry. "Okay" he whispers as he tilts Taylor's head so he can give her a quick kiss, "Oh and by the way. Good morning" he mutters against her lips. His kisses are as sweet as ever, even with morning breath, she can't help but smile. She watches him leave and goes to the lounge and sits down on their couch that they had hand picked when they got married a year and a half before hand. Lying her adorable daughter on her lap Taylor looks down and is mesmerised that her and Harry managed to create such a perfect angel. She watches her daughter watching her as she unlatches her nursing bra and slowly brings Eve in to her. Aiming her perfectly Eve latches on with no fuss and begins to suckle, Taylor looks down and then to her left as Harry joins her. He loves to watch Taylor give everything Eve needs from her own body and it fills him with love to see them bond everyday in this same position. Things are different now with her career she was still writing her music, so was Harry. But for right now her job is the adorable little girl in her arms. Harry was still touring but only summer tours so he could be home.

She knows that there are a lot of things that nobody ever tells you about marriage or having a family. They don't tell you how much work it is, how it's not a perfect fantasy world for you to live in. She and Harry fight, all the time over stupid things and then they stay up until 4.00am talking it all out. But like all things as soon as they are ready to kiss and make-up their daughter wakes up demanding attention. Taylor knew that they hadn't had sex in weeks, yes she counts. They never go on dates or enjoy lazy weekends in bed anymore. Life is completely imperfect, but Taylor wouldn't have it any other way. She loves 3.00am feedings, washing, dishes, baking, cooking. Sometimes she acknowledges that it is worse than having a busy headlining tour lined up but it only takes one look at her wedding album or a sneaky peak at her Eve in her arms and she knows she wouldn't have it any other way. Then her day repeats from yesterday.
