chapter 1 - newbies know nothing.

it's a late night in a small town and we see a guy walking down a sidewalk, listening to music. we see that it's john nelson, he's bopping his head to the music when the music stops all of a sudden. he grabs his phone from his pocket and looks at the screen, he's getting a call from an unknown number. he thinks..he declines the call and puts his phone back into his pocket, he continues listening to the music when..he gets another call. he groans in annoyance and looks, its from the same unknown number.
this time he decides to answer, "hello?" a familiar voice responds, "hello." john asks, "i-i'm sorry, who is this?" the voice responds, "oh come on john, you know who i am." john replies, "uh..no i really do-"
john stops when he realizes, "..um, how do you know my name?" the voice chuckles as it slowly turns sinister, "ah..did i give myself away that quickly?" john quickly with no hesitation hangs up, he then blocks the number. he starts to speed walk his way home.

he walks faster down the sidewalk, being very on edge after the call. he turns a corner when he sees..someone standing under a streetlight, they're looking down so he cant extinguish their face. he squints his eyes trying to look closer when..they look up showing they're wearing a ghostface mask. john with no hesitation turns around and starts running in the complete opposite direction, he hears footsteps coming up behind him. he turns a corner and..another masked person jumps out at him, he quickly pushes them to the side and continues running. he runs through an alleyway..and yet to his surprise, another one pops out from behind a dumpster. he's yelling loudly for help as he runs through the dark streets, he runs past a building and sees a ladder leading to the roof. he looks back and sees even more ghostfaces running at him, he immediately starts climbing the ladder..he gets a good distance up when a ghostface grabs his ankle, they start to drag him down before john kicks them in the face. he continues climbing up and finally makes it to the roof, and sees two ghostfaces already standing up there waiting for him. john stands face to face with them..as they walk closer to him he quickly turns and sees the group of ghostfaces standing on the other side. he backs away slowly pleading, "please don't do this.." they all slowly inch towards him before..john steps too far back and loses his balance, falling backwards off of the building. he lands directly on his head, killing him instantly as his head matter splatters all over the ground.

the group all stare down at him as they all begin to take off their masks revealing to be..daria, maisie, serenity, renae, carmen, steven, brandon, rio, raphael, and ryan. daria speaks up, "..oh my fucking god." serenity chimes in, "no way..no way this is happening." raphael responds, "it is..ma-maybe he's not dead?" steven looks down at john and looks back at raphael, "does he look alive to you?!" maisie keeps her hand cupped over her mouth in shock. brandon looks down at john and looks away, "oh my god, that's disgusting." carmen speaks up, "w-we just killed him." rio shakes his head, "no we didn't..he fell, we didn't do that.." ryan speaks up, "we all were walking up to him and he fell..we fucking did that."
renae shakes her head frantically, "we're so going to jail..we are all going to jail." daria looks around frantically, "no, we can't..if my parents find out, i don't even know what would happen." steven asks, "well what the hell are we even supposed to do?" daria yells back, "i don't know!" serenity runs her hands through her hair, "i cannot go to jail, you know how badly that would ruin my reputation at school.." maisie looks at everyone, "we have to call the police." ryan looks at maisie, "absolutely not." maisie replies, "well we can't just leave him here!"
daria looks at maisie, "maisie..my parents absolutely cannot find out about this, we cannot call the police." maisie looks at everyone as they all look at her, she agrees reluctantly as carmen asks, "..well what are we going to do? just leave?" brandon comes up with an idea..he walks to the edge of the building where the ladder was and looks down, he doesn't see any cameras around. he walks back up to the group, "theres no cameras around, nobody would know we were even here." renae asks, "babe, well his body is still here." the group all look down until daria speaks up, "i mean..it does kinda just look like a suicide on its own." the group all look at daria, "if we just..left? it would maybe just look like he jumped.." the group all look at daria and look at eachother, they all start to agree with the plan. rio stops everyone, "..we all have to swear we won't tell another living soul that this happened." they group all nod as they go around. daria starts, "yeah, i swear." maisie, "..i swear." serenity, "whatever..i swear." renae, "i swear." carmen, "i-..i swear." steven, "yeah, obviously i swear." brandon, "i swear." raphael, "fine, i swear.." ryan, "of course i swear." and finally rio, "and i swear." the group all sigh as they look down at johns body before all getting off the roof slowly, going back down the ladder. they all are still really shaken up as they all start to go their separate ways.

daria drives home, still on edge after seeing what had happened. she makes it home and slowly walks in, she looks around to see all the lights off. her parents must be asleep, she quietly walks to her bedroom. she gets inside and lets out a sigh, she knew she could absolutely never ever let her parents know what she did tonight. especially knowing their past, and how much they have tried to shield her from it..
