Vanexa waited until dark, she couldn't help it, her mother would have already drunken herself to sleep by now, if she didn't stop to yell at her about that night 11 years ago. That's Vanexa's life now. Getting screamed at for something she had no control over, her mother's douchebag boyfriends hitting her, and her contemplating every possible escape. Every possible escape. Uneasy she removed her dark purple gloves, revealing scars going from her wrist towards her elbow.

With a shaking breath, she remembers each cut. She felt as though she has no one, her mother is a drunk who brings home assholes, her "Friends" at school make fun of her life when her back is turned, and her fathers been dead for over a decade. She only had one person she  believed cared about her: Jack. She doesn't know how Mindy would take it, but she thought long and hard, Mindy was a understanding soul, so she may understand her predicament.

Earlier today, her mother's new boyfriend, 9th one this week, hit Vanexa because her mother forgot to stock the fridge with beer. And what does her mother do? Nothing but watch and drink. The day before? He threatened to kill her because she refused to sleep with him. What did her mother do? Threatened to help hide her body for, and her words exactly, "Not being a good daughter and taking care of the family." Vanexa knew she had nothing here, nothing but her memories of her father.

So, writing a note stating she had no reason to stay, she was going to leave and she hopes her mother would soon realize her mistakes and try to stop drinking, find someone who will be a decent man, and try to work through the pain. After she signed the letter and put it in the envelope, she poked her head down the stairs and saw her mother and whatever-his-name-is passed out on the sofa. Silently she set the letter on the table in front of them, grabbed her bag with her clothes, phone, charger, books, and a photo of her dad, and left.
