Later in the night, Tom and Sonic pull into a rest stop that has a station so people can fill gas, and a small store close by. Tom gets out of the truck, puts his hat on, and walks to the other side of the truck.
He walks to the window and whispers, "All right, I'm gonna go check in with Wade, see if he knows what's going on." He puts on his cap to hide his identity.
"You're gonna see Wade in that glass thing? What is it, a teleportation box?" Sonic asks, looking at the glass box.
Tom looks behind him to see the box before turning to Sonic again. "It's a pay phone. It's mostly for drug dealers and fugitives from the law, which is us.
"Drug dealers." Maria asked and Shadow and Eggman didn't want to explain that to her.
"Stay in the car. I don't want anybody seeing you." Tom instructed.
Sonic crossed his arms with a pout expression, not happy with the idea of staying put. "Fine."
"Why can't Sonic come?" Tangle asked.
"If anyone sees him, they will call the government agency." Tangle said.
"Too bad Sonic isn't the type to stay in one place for a second." Tails said.
Tom walks to the pay phone and goes inside.
Meanwhile, Sonic is horsing around in the truck, pretending to drive the truck, and making engine noises. Suddenly, he begins to hear a lot of noises, making the blue hedgehog turn his head to see a group of bikers riding towards a building where a lot of people gather. There are different cars and other stuff. Sonic gasps in excitement and ducks in the car.
"Okay, okay. That is the coolest place on Earth, but you have to stay in the car!" Sonic said to himself. He then slowly peaks his head up to continue everything that is going on in front of him, causing him to hyperventilate, fogging up the glass on the window, which he wipes away to keep watching. He's still fighting his excitement by rocking back and forth in the driver's seat.
"Be strong, be strong!" Sonic says to himself. Not able to take it anymore, he spots Tom's sunglasses.
Tails chuckles. "Oh no..."
Meanwhile, Tom is on the payphone and waiting for Wade to pick up the phone.
Back in Green Hills police station, Wade picks up, "Hello. Green Hills Police Department."
Tom answers, "Wade, it's me."
"Hi. I'm so glad that you called. Uh, so, some guys came in asking some questions. Uh, they're a little creepy," Wade says, and chuckles nervously. "Kind of reminded me of, uh, the guys from Men in Black, but not as likable or, uh, charming as Will Smith."
"Oh, I love that movie." Sonic said, smiling.
Hearing the statement, Tom asks, "Wait, what kind of questions?"
"Um, questions about... terrorism? Heh, I told them that I've gone ice fishing with Tom. He doesn't know how to make a bomb!" Wade answers. "He can't even make bait in the cold!"
"All right, Wade, listen to me. This is really important. Don't tell them that we talked, okay?"
While still on the phone, Wade nervously glanced around his office of the police department. His office was filled with many G.U.N. agents in every corner around the room, including Dr. Robotnik and Agent Stone, who was looming over him.
"You know, I think they already know." He said, meekly.
"Should have expected that..." Silver muttered shaking his head realizing too late that contacting Wade at the station wasn't the best idea.
