Kate bishop had not texted her back, She had not show up to school, did not call her, or even do their scheduled FaceTime calls for two days.
Her anxiety ate her insides, if she lost her mission she would be extracted immediately and not know anything of Kate Bishop anymore.
She searched endlessly for two days.
Then Kate came back, just popped right back into school.
A nasty bruise had formed on her jaw line, and there was tiny cuts that littered her face.
Yet, her smile still remained when she met Yelena in their first period together.
Yelena was pissed.
For the morning class they had with each other Yelena ignored Kates antics to try and speak with her.
Until she was forced to.
"Okay..please don't kill me but you look really mad."
Yelena slammed her locker shut taking it upon herself to stand on her tippy toes instead of making Kate but her books up.
"Where were you Kate? I called you. Texted you. You act like nothing happened. Like you didn't just disappear from my life for two days."
Yelena watched as Kate looked down at her scuffed up shoes and then back up to Yelenas face.
"Mom took me out. We went on a trip."
"What's with cuts and bruises?" Yelena shot back everyone now in a flow back to lunch.
"Took a boxing class in LA." Kate shrugged.
"I called you."
"Mom took my phone. Or else I would've."
Yelena knew something was up, Kate could barley look her in the eyes and was not taking this conversation seriously with her.
"I was worried-"
Kate cut her off coldly, "it's not your job to worry, so quit acting like it is."
Yelena was shot back by the snap, Kate has never spoken so cruel to her.
"I suppose you're right, it's not. But I do, you.. idiot" Yelena says softly at Kate who finally looks into her eyes.
She loses the world in those eyes, they never dimmed. They always sparkled and they always carried life. They make Yelena not even be mad at her.
Stupid puppy dog eyes.
Kate sighs the first to break eye contact closing eyes leaning on the locker.
"Look Lena. Just..just.."
Kates trying to find the words stuttering over anything in her head trying to form something into it.
Yelena knows something up, especially when those gosh darn adorable eyes swell in water threatening to spill at any moment.
Right now Kate was a vulnerable little puppy, who if said the correct words to could easily start sobbing.
Yelena hated it.
Because if she too grew up the way Kate did she would be able to cry.
"I need to go."
Yelenas eyes snap wide at the sudden statement kate makes her head tilting in confusion and the dark brunette tries to open her mouth to say something but she doesn't.
Instead she turns away for Yelena and walks off the opposite direction.
"Kate-"
"If you're asking me where I'm going, because you're so invested in everywhere I'm going. I'm going home."
