Making things clear! The one who goes to the kitchen is the shorter Joel and the longer (taller) one stays in the upper dorm. Lo hriat pawlh tawh suh u, Joela hetiang in a pa lo.
After those who stayed in the upper dorm were informed about the accident they too felt hopeless and scared.
"That fucker. I still can't believe it." Hruaia said as he sat on his bed with his eyes closed.
"Why him out of all people?!" Mikael kicked the bed that was beside him out of frustration.
"They must be feeling so hopeless, those that are in the lower dorm. Rebecca and now Hriata." Tluangtluangi said.
"Seriously why send out someone like Hriata? They should be valuing him! He has so much potential!." Mikael continued to shout.
"Stop shouting! You're not the only one who's grieving! Think about them too! How would they feel?! How about those that send him out? They would feel horrible too!" Ruthi shouted at him having enough of his shouting.
"Hriata's like that while someone as useless as you is still living and spitting nonsense."
Mikael glared at her.
"Mikael!" Bawihpuii, Juliet, Denna, and Duhawmi shouted at him in unison.
Mikael looked around and noticed that almost all of them were sending daggers with their glares.
"Fuck this." He finally stopped and sat on his
bed.
"I felt so bad for those that are in the lower dorm. They must be so scared right now." Bawihpuii said to them.
After hours of being silent Mercy decided to finally break the silence.
"Shouldn't we be organizing the things that they bought back?"
"Yeah, probably," Michael replied.
"Go sit with him and comfort him," Sangsangi said to Michael, as she looked at Lawmpuia so Michael had no choice but to go and comfort his friend.
"So what did they bring back?" Rempuii asked Mercy who was checking the bags that the boys had brought back.
"Some bread and water. Let's keep the apples to ourselves and divide the water and bread fifty-fifty and send it to the upper dorm." Mercy suggested as she counted the supplies.
After they had done deviding and sent it to the upper dorm they discussed their meal routine.
"Fuck how are we supposed to share 7 packs of bread? We're like 23 in here." Vanrammawia snickered from behind.
"We'll have to make sure we eat as little as we can because we'll never know when we'll manage to get out of here. Let's eat two times a day. 1 pack has 14 slices each so we'll manage with maybe 2 packs a day. One slice will be shared by two people and about the bottled water, we have 40 so 1 bottle for each person, and the remaining will be kept aside for an emergency." Mercy shared her decision.
"1 bottle each? Some of us will drink it all up in one day so let's just put all of it in one place and serve half a bottle for two people every meal time. We'll last longer like that." Remlalpianga suggested and all of them eventually agreed to it.
"Can we eat now? If not I'm starving to death." Hma-a said from his bed.
"Exactly!" Vanrammawia joined him.
"First let's appoint someone who will be in charge of food and water," Pipi suggested hoping that it would be her or Kenneth in her mind.
"I don't know. I don't trust y'all." Pari said as she looked around.
"What about me?" Rempuii said to her as he placed her hand on her chest acting like she was hurting.
"Let's go with Zohminga. I trust him the most." Sangsangi said, pointing at Zohminga who was sitting beside Teresa.
"You sure he won't show favoritism and give extra food to Teresa or something?" Rempuii said as they all started to tease Zohminga and Teresa.
"Juliet you do the dividing!"
The upper dorm people were excited to finally see some food. They too have been starving since yesterday so it's only natural that they don't know how to act at the sight of it.
"Hey! Stop touching it!" Juliet shouted at them, annoyed at the many hands that were reaching for the food.
"Shouldn't you be making a plan, we're too unorganized here," Hlimawma said to Juliet who was fuming with anger that none of them listened to her.
She snatched all the food and when they finally paid attention to her, she started to share her plan.
"Half a slice per person and we will eat twice a day. One bottle for each and you have to make sure you last it for at least 5 days and don't drink unless you're dying of thirst! And after that, if we haven't gotten out of here we'll divide the rest equally!" She announced.
"Sure Mom!" Denna teased her. (Depressed lo zawk ve.)
"Please let's eat! We're dying!" Dingi said to her as the others soon joined her in pleading with Juliet so they finally settled down and got ready for their first meal since the apocalypse. There were some nagging and complaints but they needed to make sure that they had the food for as long as they could since they were not sure for how long they would be staying inside the dorm.
Zohminga set up the food as they quietly lined up to finally get their meal.
"Let's survive," Ruatkimi said to him as she took the bread and water from him.
"Before you eat! Make sure that you are only allowed to drink this much." Pipi announced as she showed them how much they were supposed to drink.
"Tch, that is barely like two sips!" They complained but soon shut their mouth when Pipi-i sent them a glare.
When Teresa finally came up to Zohminga to take her food, Zohminga noticed a small wound on her left hand, he asked her if she had hurt herself.
"No! I'm okay, it's nothing serious." Teresa quickly retrieved her left hand took her food with her right hand and quickly left with Zohminga following her movement with his eyes.
"Enough staring. Give me my food." Remlalpianga asked him, embarrassed Zohminga quickly handed him his share, avoiding eye contact.
"Sangs take Michael's and Lawmpuia's share and please give it to them. I feel too guilty to be talking to Lawmpuia." Rempuii said to Sangsangi who was currently taking her share of food.
"Sure. But it's not your fault about the accident." Sangsangi sent a reassuring smile.
"Give me two shares. One's for Joel, seems like he doesn't feel like eating but he still should." Rempuii said to Zohminga who simply nodded and handed her what she asked for.
Joel was sitting in his bed, probably still affected by what happened to Hriata.
"Here." He looked up and saw Rempuii handing him a slice of bread and a bottle of water.
"Since you're the one who went to the kitchen you get a full slice while we get half of it." She tried to lighten up the mood but he blankly stared at the food in her hand.
"I can't believe I even allowed a friend to die in front of me like that." He said still not taking the food.
"Don't blame yourself, I too am at fault for sending him there." Having enough she placed the food beside him and left without even waiting for what Joel was trying to say.
4 days went on with them hiding inside the dorm and they had almost run out of their food supplies.
"We're getting out of here tomorrow. Get Ready."
It was written on a piece of paper, and it was clear that it was a message sent to the lower dorm from the upper dorm, the students were packing and preparing themselves to leave, not aware that it would be disaster after disaster outside of the dorm.
