Catching Waves

The first time

* First person pov*

I put my headphones in and laid on my bed waiting for my mom to come tell me we're ready. Today is my first time with this team and even though practice with the team isn't for another half hours I want to get out there and catch a few waves.  Mom walked in and sat beside me making me take my headphones out.

KeKoa: Hey Ma

Mom: It's time to go

We both stood up and we walked out of my room. I ran to grab her board and then we left. We soon reached the beach and I grabbed my board and wax then headed for the sand. I soon sat down and started waxing my board. When I was done I took off into the water. Eventually a team of people around my age joined me.

?: You new here

KeKoa: Me

?: Yeah

Baylen: I've been here for a few months but I spend most of my time at a different beach I'm just here to meet my team

?: Oh what team are you joining

KeKoa: Shore haven board riders

?: Oh

KeKoa: Well that's my wave better catch it

I paddled away catching my wave and riding it occasionally doing a few tricks. When I got in to shore I ran up to my mom to see her talking to a man.

KeKoa: Hi

?: You must be KeKoa

KeKoa: Yep

?: Great we're stoked to have you on the team

KeKoa: I'm stoked to be on the team

Soon all the teens that were on the water with me came in and came up to us.

?: I'm Manu and I'm the coach of Shore haven board riders and these are your team mates

?Im Poppy Manu's little sister

?: I'm Bodhi , Marlon's girlfriend

?: I'm Marlon

KeKoa: I'm KeKoa and this is my mom

Mom: She was stoked to meet you guys

Manu: Alright we'll comps are tomorrow and I've seen you out there catching waves while the team practices

Mom: She's been on a board since she was born her father loved surfing and would take her all the time

Manu: Hope you make it for comps tomorrow

KeKoa: Of course

Mom: She'll be there

Manu: Alright well the rest of the team is gonna practice so if you wanna join go for but I bet you have been here for a while and probably wanna get home to your dad

KeKoa: No I'll stick around

The girls and I ran back into the water.

Poppy: So how's your family KeKoa

KeKoa: Well my dad is the reason J moved here he up and left me and I was alone at his place for a while and got in some trouble so I moved here with my mom

Bodhi: I get that my parents are so lit too

Poppy: Mom passed and I don't know where my dad is Manu practically took over that spot

Bodhi: Don't forget to mention Prawnie can't let her get overwhelmed by everyone already

KeKoa: It's alright

We stayed out for a little longer and bought some waves before going in and letting the boys have a go. Once the boys were done we all said goodbye and left. Mom and I went to get food and then we went shopping for more clothes and wet suits. My mom needed a wet suit since she got back into surfing now. When we were done the sun was setting so we went home and I went to bed.
