Expand Your Music Taste

FIRST the most popular method, in my opinion (no, it's not like I did studies or researched it, I'm just guessing) is Youtube. Type and search your favorite song, then look through that "recommended" tab. Play through a couple of songs through this list and if you like them then yay! You could keep it coming by going through it's recommended tab and on and on and on.

SECOND is another pretty popular guy, which is Pandora--or any other internet radio (such as I Heart Radio). What you do is pick one song or artist, and make a new radio for it. What it will do is select similar songs and artists to play. Pretty cool, huh? Its a great way to discover new music and new artists.

THIRD is a smartphone/iPod game called Tap Tap Revenge. Its a game with a likeness to Guitar Hero except without the guitar and instead, your fingers. It has a boat load of music loaded on there, most of which I haven't even heard of. Since I have gotten the game I have bought and downloaded twelve (?) new songs and I'm pretty damn picky.

FOURTH is a little thing iTunes has, called Genius. It's supposed to show new songs and artists to you that are similar to a song or artist you select. It's pretty cool and pretty accurate.

FIFTH listen to your friends ipod! chances are (and this is MOSTLY true) your friends have a similar music taste compared to you, and if they don't, so what? Yeah, it's less familiar music but hey! You might still like it! This is actually how I came across Panic At The Disco.

SIXTH Break away from your normal music station on the radio. Do something random and listen to the punk radio instead of the classical radio. Yeah I know it's a big jump but give the music a chance, listen to it with out a bad mindset--you might actually like it.

SEVENTH, listen to commercials. A lot of commercials have background music--Apple especially, and car advertisements. If you find yourself jamming out to "Too Close" go look up the lyrics you know on google and you might just find it!
