Kendra's POV

Stability had never been a part of my life. My family hated me, all of the relationships I'd ever been in had ended in them abusing or using me, and I was sick of it. Nothing was worth this pain. I kicked a pebble by my foot and gazed over the cliff. A seventy-five foot drop off into thousands of sharp rocks waiting just below the surface of freezing cold water with rough waves pounding the base of the cliff and a riptide waiting to pull anyone it could reach under. So many facters it garentied my death, I wanted this.

They'd all be better without me.

My mother would be glad the shame of having me as a daughter was gone.

My father wouldn't be so angery and his anger he vented by beating me would disappear.

My brother Seth wouldn't get in trouble for trying to sneak me food any more.

My best friends, Calla and Bloom wouldn't be bullied for being friends with me any more.

My boyfriend wouldn't be tied to me anymore and he could sleep with all the women he wanted, he wouldn't have to deal with me.

Something that once it happened there was no getting out of it, just one moment to do it and it was all over. Edging closer, I spread my arms and leaned forward at bit. The cliff loomed closer and I started falling, only for a pair of strong hands to stop me. One gripped my shoulders, and the other clung to my wrist. They hauled me back to safty and I moved towards the cliff again, of they pinned me down, and said, "What's wrong with you?!"

I just looked up at him with blank, empty eyes. He sat up and said, "Do you believe in magic?" I shook my head, and he held out his hand, a small ball of light floated from his palm. I gasped, eyes widening. Just then a dragon landed behind him, it was large, it's body the size of a large horse, though it's wings, tail, neck, and head adding to his leangth and nearly doubling his size. It had gleaming platinum scales and small but sharp looking spikes over his tail, head, neck and body in a line.

Suddenly the man said, "I'm Bracken, this is Raxtus." I told him my name.

He seemed to be squinting at me, before his eyes widened and he said, "Impossible. You're fairykind?" I looked at him blankly and he said, "Come with me, I want to introduce you to someone who will give you a glimpse of what will happen to your loved ones were you to die. I shrugged. Nothing to lose. If they killed me it would be a mercy.

He strode over to the dragon who spoke in a male voice, "To the shrine I assume?" His voice was rich, and the young man nodded. The dragon moved forward and grabbed us both around the waist with his feirce claws I could easily see shredding both of us, and leaped into the sky, wings beating, he managed to bring us very high before he started to glide forward at a gut wrenching pace. I almost laughed for the first time in years, but I couldn't get it out.

We only flew for about an hour, but I would say we covered a good two hundred, two hundred and fifty miles. The ground far below us was blurred from the speed, but I could tell we had been flying over forest for a while now when a clearing with a large lake inside it appeared below us. Raxtus suddenly folded in his wings and we were diving towards the earth. Just before we hit the ground, his wings opened and we landed lightly in the cleared area. There were gazebo's dotting around the large grassy area, and a veriety of mystical creatures wandered around, fairies, a few women I would guess were nymphs, a pair of sayters who had paused their game to watch us with interest. In fact, all living things within the park like area were watching with interest as the dragon released us.

My eyes must have been the size of dinner platters as I took in all of the supposed myths around us. A fairy fluttered over, she had short blue hair, bright silver wings and stunning purple eyes. She nodded at Bracken before she alighted on Raxtus's nose. She spoke softly to him, "How are you, Raxtus?" He said with clear love in his strange voice, "I'm good. How are you Shiara?" She smiled and said, "I'm doing fine. Who is the girl?" I snapped out of my daze and said, "I'm sorry, I'm Kendra."
