"Washington! You're needed in Pennsylvania right away!" shouts a man with a long beard through the bustling crowd in the busy square.

"I heard you the first time!" Washington's creamy voice echoes as you grab the door handle to enter your apartment. You hurry up the stairs and settle by the window to watch Washington. It isn't unusual for you to steal a glance at him sometimes; after all, he is the country's latest heartthrob.

"I'll head out as soon as I can get my notes in order," Washington says, grabbing his leather bag and turning away from the bearded man. His eyes meet yours, and he chuckles once he realizes you're staring. A sly smirk crosses his face, and you can't help but feel embarrassed for being caught.

He strolls away, disappearing behind a nearby building.

A day later, you hear his familiar voice ringing through the streets. This time, you're outside with a book in hand. He looks at you, and you return the gaze. Breaking from his path, he approaches you.

"Reading?" he inquires.

"My favorite," you reply.

"I've never met a maiden smart enough to read," he teases.

"I suppose I'm not like other maidens."

"What book is it?" he prods, sensing your annoyance.

"The 25 Amendments."

"I've never read that one. Sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out." Washington pauses, as if deep in thought, before asking, "What's your name?"

"Y/N," you respond. "It's my mother's name. She passed away from meningitis shortly after I was born."

"Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss," Washington expresses his sympathy. "How do you feel about dinner at my place tonight? I leave early tomorrow morning, and I'd love to hear more about the book you're reading."

"I guess," you shrug, being asked to dinner by a revolutionary war hero isn't as extraordinary as it once seemed.

"Excellent. I'll be delighted to serve you," he says with a wink before jaunting off.

What is that supposed to mean?
