I checked the window for the third time today as I waited for the Fog to dissapear. Yesterday we agreed that today we will go outside and get supplies.
To say I was exited to go outside was an understatement. I was locked up here for a week already and it was getting hard to sit in one place.I ended up reading several books about plants and insects. I would never do this in my free time. Usually I would sleep or plan my next route. I didn't really care about insects or types of grass but at this point, any form of entertainment was welcomed.
Why did Tío have so many books here?
I wish I knew.In the end I found out that palm trees were actually a form of grass and bees can fly up to 60 miles a day. Usefull? Not really.
I waited impatiently as Tío Pedro made breakfast and glanced at me from time to time with a smirk. He knew I wanted to go out already and not be caged by four wooden walls. Not to say the food from a bag was beggining to taste rather dull and something fresh would be a welcome.
,,Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet" He said as he stirred the porridge from the bag in the pot.
I looked at him and raised one brow
,,Don't tell me you started reading poetry"He chuckled and grinned at me before reaching to his bag and pulling out a book.
A poetry book.
I tried my best not to crack a smile. It was even called 'Poetry Book'. I turned back to the window and tried my hardest not to laugh. My shoulders were trembling from the strain.
,,Want breakfast?" He asked and poured me a bowl, even though I haven't answered yet. I didn't have to, I love food.
I thank him and grab the bowl before digging in with a plastic spoon and burning my tongue in the process.,,Slow down, the bowl won't run" Tío sat down next to me and glanced outside himself ,,Let's pack after breakfast and go"
I nodded excitedly and thought what I should bring with me. Definitely some water and a second sweater if the weather gets colder, after all it's October already and it gets rather cold in the evenings or rather its always cold.
We ate our porridge in no time and were getting ready to go outside for the first time in the entire week.
Tío had to scratch the sealant from the hatch frame before opening it.
He slowly climbed down while I slid down the ladder.Taking in the wonderful smell of the trees and mushrooms that were apparently growing somewhere. Tío will have to check later if they were edible as I have no idea which ones are.
I instantly headed towards the car and opened the door, only to instantly shut them afterwards.
,,Tío?" I called and he turned towards me ,,We may have to walk" I pointed at the car.
He looked inside and grunted.
,,It got inside. Well, I'm not risking it. C'mon, unless you want to stay"No way I'm staying here. Even if our transportation was out of the question I was happy and ran up to him. Happily walking and observing all the trees and listening to the birds singing all around us.
I missed this feeling of freedom.,,You know? This isn't so bad. It almost feels like one of my travels. I ended up having to camp whole week in the forest because I made a wrong turn!" I smiled at the memory and kicked a pebble.
I waited until I was close to the same pebble before kicking it again, unfortunately it went flying to the shrubs.Tío Pedro snorted at me.
,,I still can't understand how you could move all the time. Everyone has to find a place to grow roots at and yet here you are. Going where you want, when you want" He sighs as he looks at the road ahead of us ,,Just like Hugo. Carefree"
