Why can't we be happy at least for a day?

Sarah had never been so excited in her life, everyone was amused to see that smile on her face and that sparkle in her eyes.
The moment Kiara opened the barn door Sarah let out a little scream that made everyone laugh including Kiara as JJ was the first time he had seen her smile or even laugh since yesterday.

Kiara was the first to start walking towards the horses and started petting them.The others had not even moved but when they saw Kiara turn her head smiling at them and pointing with her hand for them to come closer, they all began to move towards her.

Sarah looked too excited while, with the help of Kiara, she began to caress them.

Do you want to ride? Question kie

really? Sarah said, starting to get more and more excited.

Yes, sure. Kiara said as he prepared two horses to be ridden.

They spent hours riding horses, Kiara taught Sarah any tricks she knew.
Kiara had been feeling well, at no time had she thought about her grandfather again but the moment she returned to take the horses to the stable the memories came back quickly.
She felt bad again but tried to ignore that feeling and headed towards the house where everyone else was already waiting for her.

When she entered the door she could see her friends sitting on the sofa laughing and joking while Sarah was in the kitchen preparing dinner for all.

After having dinner and each of them showering, they decided to watch a movie since the electricity was still working,  Kie's grandfather had many CDs of movies there, most of them were horror movies, they all decided to watch a horror movie, so Kiara went to the closet full of CDs and I catch the movie "evil dead"

While Sarah and Kiara were preparing the film, Pope had gone to collect some corn that Kiara's grandfather had kept and started to cook it in the pan for make popcorn, John b and jj had gone to get a mattress to put on the floor since they couldn't all fit on the sofa and apart from that some pillows and blankets to make everyone more comfortable.

John b and Sarah sat on the mattress while JJ and Kiara sat on that big old sofa, Pope sat on the other side of the sofa.

They all spent a good time watching the movie until most of them fell asleep, John B and Sarah being the first, then Pope fell asleep, JJ and kie were laughing all the time and you will say why because they were watching a horror movie, who laughs watching a horror movie but the problem was that Pope was snoring too much.
There was a moment when they also fell asleep, and they would have rested very well if it wasn't for the fact that in the middle of the night John B woke them up screaming.

Guys wake up now, there are many zombies coming towards here.
John b said as he shook everyone and shouted to wake them up.

All had woken up scared and some like JJ who didn't understand anything of what was happening.
It was true when they looked out the window they all realized that there were a large number of zombies approaching and that they would probably knock down the house.
No one knew what to do, each of them went to pack some things Kiara went to put everyone's clothes, Pope and Sarah went to pack food, John b went to put weapons and JJ went to put different objects that he found that they could use in the future.

JJ entered the room he was sharing with Kiara, he put a lot of things that could be useful and he thought he was done but when he was leaving the room he remembered the photos of Kiara and her family hanging on the wall, he thought Kiara would like to have a memory so he grabbed all the photos that he could and took them out of the frame they were in, he also took him a small stuffed turtle that was on top of the bed.

When he left the room he saw that John B was handing out weapons to each of them and he also took one.

What do we do now?. Sarah asked.

There is a back door we can go out through it and run towards the forest. Kiara said.

JJ was not paying attention to the conversation, he kept looking out the window seeing how the zombies were getting closer to the point where you could already hear their growls.
JJ would never admit it but he was scared, maybe not for himself but for his friends, he didn't want any of them to get hurt.

Come on JJ we have to go. John shouted, breaking him out of his thoughts.

Everyone started running towards the back exit and as they opened the door the zombies were already destroying the house.
There was no problem leaving since everyone had time, each one of them started running through the forest without even looking where they were going. Everyone was so scared that they didn't even realize that they had separated.

When they stopped running JJ realized one thing.
Where are Kie and John B?

Guys... Where are John b and Kiara?.
JJ said clearly worried as he looked around hoping that at some point they would appear.

I don't know, they were behind me. Sarah said clearly also scared.

We have to go back. JJ said as he started walking towards the farm.

No. You're crazy, we're going to die. said Pope as he grabbed JJ trying to get him to stop walking.

After a few long minutes talking about what to do, they decided that the best idea would be to go to sleep and tomorrow morning when everything had calmed down they would go back to look for him at the farm or at the forest.
They set up the tent between them and Sarah and Pope went to sleep since JJ didn't want to and even if he wanted to he knew he couldn't fall asleep when his two best friends were lost or even dead which he didn't even want to think about it.
JJ spent a lot of time thinking about things, Especially thinking about why they couldn't be calm at least for a certain amount of time, why they had to be running from house to house, and why they had to be afraid that someone or something would kill them.
Why can't they be happy at least for a day?
After all, they were just 16-year-old teenagers. Weren't they too young for this?

I wish JJ knew that what happened to them today would be nothing compared to what will happen in the future.

The truth is I don't like this chapter at all but I wanted to post something since I haven't updated for a while, I'm sorry.
