Ever since that woman arrived, everything turned into utter chaos. I didn't know her, but she claimed to be a victim, telling everyone that I had wrecked her family, leaving her alone.
Freen assigned me a handler named Nam. At first, I wasn't fond of her, but after a day knowing her, I grew comfortable around her. She was an exceptional woman, always standing up for me.
It had been three days since I received Irin's message, but I hadn't paid it much mind. I hadn't mentioned it to Freen either; she might have known already.
Three days had passed, and I was still shielding myself from various haters and trolls on social media. Some people were even urging me to end my life, blaming me for destroying a family. I couldn't entirely blame them.
I used to be like them, and I deeply understood their anger.
But what puzzled me was who had sent that woman to torment me once more? I swear I'd never seen her before, and her husband's picture didn't ring a bell either.
"You okay? You seem lost in thought," Nam said. "How about grabbing some coffee or something?"
"No, it's fine. Thank you," I smiled at her.
Nam was dedicated to her job, and I could see a maternal side to her. I couldn't help but miss my own mother.
However, since Nam's arrival, Freen seemed to disappear. Well, not really disappear, as I could still see her on television giving interviews about her other artists. She was busy, and now I understood that she had sacrificed many international opportunities to teach me. She had chosen to stay and care for me before.
"You know, Becky, this isn't working. You need to relax," Nam sighed, making me chuckle.
"What's bothering you?" I asked, looking outside where I could see Non filming. "When will this shoot end? I desperately need a break."
"Do you mean just today's shoot or the entire series?" she inquired.
"I mean the whole series," I replied. "I want to get out of town and escape this chaotic environment. It's stifling."
Honestly, I didn't care about the trolls and critics. All I wanted was to leave this country and never breathe the same air as Freen again. I just wanted to avoid her for the rest of my life. But there was a part of me that yearned to see her once more.
Strangely, these last three days without her had felt suffocating too.
"Argh!" I ran my hands through my hair in frustration.
"What's wrong now? I'm starting to worry about your mental health," Nam looked at me concerned.
As much as I wanted to seek advice from Nam, I couldn't. I was sure Freen had sent her to gather information about me. It felt unfair that she knew about me while I had no idea where she was.
"By the way, Mr. Saint has requested a meeting with you tomorrow regarding the offer. Should I decline, or would you like to meet him?" Nam asked again.
I turned to her and sighed. "I'll meet him tomorrow."
"Got it. And just a reminder, the CEO has provided a company car for your appointments, so you don't have to take a cab."
"How's the CEO?" I inquired.
"I don't have the CEO's schedule, but if you'd like to meet her, I can arrange it."
"No need. It's fine. I'm just curious about her whereabouts." I smiled and chuckled.
"She's heading to England next week for a conference. She'll be there for a few weeks, that's all I know," Nam shared.
"Thank you. And, by the way, could you not mention that I inquired about her?"
"Sure, I won't mention it," she smiled at me, and I went outside to greet Non, who had finished his shoot.
I aimed to be more productive from now on. Freen was doing her job, and I wouldn't be seeing her frequently. Maybe this could be a fresh start. Perhaps, even though we worked for the same company, I could carry on with my life without her.
Maybe Irin was right. It wasn't love after all.
