Non and I went to the television show guesting the next morning, and the topic of the pictures on the internet was still making the rounds.
"Are you okay?" Non asked. "Don't let those people get to you. They're just trying to bring you down." He gently tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear and smiled reassuringly.
I nodded in response, but I felt a bit awkward. I wasn't used to Non's physical affection anymore, especially after knowing that he had feelings for me. Moreover, I was now in a relationship with Freen, and I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable or jealous because of Non's touch. Although I believed Freen would understand, I still wanted to avoid any misunderstandings.
I hated seeing her jealous, and I didn't want her to doubt my actions. If I could, I would proudly declare that she was my lover. However, given our circumstances, that was not an option, and it pained me.
The show began, and I did my best to act natural with Non, despite his occasional touches. I discreetly whispered to him to maintain some distance, as he already knew the reason for it.
Non complied, but the rest of the set couldn't help but notice the tension. However, nobody brought up the topic, which provided some temporary relief.
"Are you sure you can get home by yourself?" Non asked with concern when he found out that Nam had left early due to an emergency.
To be honest, I felt perfectly fine without security since I wasn't that famous. Most people who recognized me simply walked past without making a fuss. Nevertheless, Non insisted on making sure I was safe.
"Yes, I'll be fine. I'll send you a message when I get home," I assured him, and he nodded. He got into his car and waved goodbye before driving away.
Freen had texted me that she would meet me in the parking lot, but over 30 minutes had passed, and she was still nowhere to be found.
"Becky Armstrong?" a guy approached me when he recognized my face. "I'm a big fan. I was actually in the audience watching you."
I smiled warmly, appreciating his admiration.
"Are you alone? Do you need a ride?" he asked, reaching for my hand, which I quickly pulled away.
"I'm waiting for my driver," I lied, pretending to check my phone. "He's on his way. You go ahead." I tried to maintain a friendly demeanor, but his demeanor was unsettling.
Where was Freen? If I left now, this guy would surely follow me. There were no security personnel nearby.
"Alright, I'll wait with you to make sure you get home safely," he insisted, grinning at me, sending shivers down my spine.
He was really creeping me out.
I called Freen's number, but she didn't answer. So, I decided to call Non instead. However, the guy suddenly snatched my phone from my hand, his expression turning dark when he saw that I was calling Non.
"Why do you trust this guy, Becky? Don't you know he's not good for you?" the guy asked, tossing my phone aside.
His face had darkened, and he was visibly angry.
"He was with you a while ago, right? But he left you here. Why? Because he doesn't care, Becky," the guy taunted, walking toward me, causing me to step back. "I'm here, Becky. You can have me. I can give you everything." He forcefully reached for my hand and placed it on his chest. "Feel my heart beating for you?" he asked.
Tears welled up in my eyes as he grew increasingly creepy. We were alone in this area, and I didn't know where to run. I continued stepping back, but he grabbed my waist, causing me to sob.
The guy stopped when he heard my cries, his expression softening as he caressed my cheek, still keeping me within his grasp.
"Don't cry, Becky. I won't hurt you. I just want you to know that I'm here for you. Always," he said, leaning in as if to kiss me. I pushed him away forcefully and fled as fast as I could.
Just as I suspected, the guy chased after me. My tears wouldn't stop, and all I wanted was to find someone so I could escape from him.
He was so creepy, and I was trembling with fear.
I collided with someone and looked into her eyes. Freen stood there, concern in her expression as she noticed my distressed state.
"What happened?" Freen asked and gently brushed away the hair covering my face.
"F-Freen..." I stammered, pointing toward the man who was running in our direction. "He...," I sobbed and just clung to her tightly.
Freen called over a nearby security guard and gestured for him to follow the man. My knees went weak, but thankfully, Freen was there to support me.
"I'm scared, Freen," I whispered, burying my face in her chest as I continued to sob and tremble.
"I'm here, Becky. No one can hurt you as long as I'm here," Freen reassured me, rubbing my back. "I'm sorry I was late."
