iudicium ~ the trial

The next morning you took a walk through the gardens of the Red Keep with your dad when you found a small space next to fountain to sit and write together. You both found peace in writing. Oberyn usually wrote poems but instead you would just write short stories as you liked getting lost in their worlds.

As the both of you were both sitting by the fountain in the sun Cersei Lannister came walking up to you while surrounded by guards.

You and your father stood up. 'Your Grace,' Oberyn nodded his head.

'Prince Oberyn, Princess y/n. Writing letters?' Cersei asked.

'A poem for me actually.'

'May I show you the gardens.'

'I couldn't very well refuse a royal escort,' your father responded. You followed the both of them throughout the gardens, just listening in on their conversation.

Cersei: I didn't realise you were a poet

Oberyn: Not a very good one

Cersei: For you paramour?

Oberyn: For one of my daughters

Cersei: You have several, don't you?

Oberyn: Nine

Cersei: Nine? Nine daughters

Oberyn: The fifth and sixths are difficult. Fifth is Y/n who now has all this burden to carry just because I married a noble once and, I named the sixth after my sister Elia. I can't say her name without turning sad. And after I turn sad, I grow angry.

Difficult! What did he mean you were difficult...

Cersei: Perhaps that's why Elia's difficult. The gods love their stupid jokes, don't they?

Oberyn: Which joke is that?

Cersei: You're a Prince of Dorne. A legendary fighter. A brilliant man feared throughout Westeros. But you could not save your sister. I'm a Lannister. Queen for 19 years. Daughter of the most powerful man alive. But I could not save my son.

The audacity of Cersei was unbelievable. What was she trying to get at anyways.

Cersei: What good is power if you cannot protect the ones you love?

Oberyn: We can avenge them

The three of you kept walking closer towards the ocean when your father asked Cersei her thoughts on the trial.

Cersei questioned about Myrcella's happiness in Dorne.

'We don't hurt little girls in Dorne,' your father reasured.

'Everywhere in the world, they hurt little girls,' Cersei responded. She wasn't wrong but you knew Dorne was a lot more safer than most places in this country. 'Y/n why don't you go play with Tommen while your father and I go to our meeting.' You did as she said and made your way to Tommen's room.

You walked straight past the Kingsguard into Tommen's room. You were surprised you weren't stopped at the door but you guessed they all knew who you were anyways.

Tommen was laying on top of his bed with his three cats when you entered. He sat up when he noticed it was you who entered.

'How did you get passed the Kingsguard.'

'Kingsguard. Do you forget who I am Tommen?' you laughed.

'I don't think your supposed to be here. Mother doesn't allow visitors,' he said wearily.
