Donum ~ The Gift
The seven of you had made significant distance towards The Wall before you all agreed to set up camp. You sat on the grass with your legs out feeling the warmth of the sun on your face. You were surrounded by green mountains and sat in between a large grass pathway that was lined by rocks.
Hodor was setting up your next fire and pitching a tent over the cart he carried Bran in alongside all your other belongings. Bran and Jojen sat together on a blanket as continued to talk about god knows what.
'What's he going on about?' Osha muttered towards you and Hodor. She was still wary about the presence of Meera and Jojen. You on the other hand couldn't care less about what they were speaking about at that moment as you were finally getting to sit in some sunlight and soak up the warmth. Times like this were you felt the heat on your face you began to miss your home. You didn't know whether you were ever going to be able to go back.
'And how come he always gets to sit and chat while we do all the work?' Osha continued on complaining about Jojen. She was only met with a singular and short 'Hodor,' as a response. You giggled at his response. Clearly no one cared but Osha. She trudged over to them and confronted Jojen about what they were talking about and claimed he was filling Bran's head with 'black magic' before trudging off in the opposite direction.
'We aren't going to Castle Black. I told you Jon Snow isn't there.' Jojen exclaimed. You turned your head in their direction only now starting to listen to what they were saying.
'What did you say?' Osha spun around on her feet to face them again.
'I told you already Jon Snow isn't there,' Jojen repeated. 'Bran needs to find the raven beyond the Wall.'
'Oh, no. I'm not going back there.' Osha pointed a finger at Bran, 'Your brother is at Castle Black. That's where we're going.'
Osha bent down next to Bran, 'Look at me.'
'The raven's been coming to me ever since I fell from that tower,' Bran slowly turned his head to face her. 'He wants me to find him. I don't have my legs anymore. This is what I have now.'
'You have a family. You need to go to Castle Black so you can get back to them where you belong.'
'What if I belong in the North?' Bran asked. 'What if I fell from that tower for a reason?'
The two of them went back and forth about whether Bran fell for a reason and if it was the gods plan until Osha took a step back and spoke seriously. The tone in the air shift and everyone went silent to listen.
'I had a man once. A good man. Bruni his name was. I was and he was mine. But one night Bruni disappears. People said he left me, but I knew him. He'd never leave me. Not for long. I knew he would come back.' Osha sat on the ground, hugging her knees to her chest. 'He came back through the back of the hut. Only it wasn't Bruni. Not really. His skin was pale like a dead man's. His eyes bluer than clear sky. He came at me, grabbed me by the neck and squeezed so hard I could feel the life slipping out of me. I don't know how I got the knife. When I did, I stuck it deep into his heart. And he hardly seemed to notice. I had to burn our hut down with him inside. I didn't ask the gods what it meant. I didn't need to. I already knew. It meant the North was no place for men to be. Not anymore.'
Osha was talking about the white walkers. You had heard myths about them but didn't know if any of it was true. Osha wiped a tear from her eye and stood up again pointing at Bran,
'I told your Maester I would get you to Castle Black, and no further.' She stormed off after that.
Everyone went back to what they were doing and you laid back down on the grass and closed your eyes. You wondered where Tommen was and what he was doing. You thought again of Podrick and where he may have ended up?
