chapter thirty one: things somehow got worse?

The energy in the room is extremely heavy as my friends and I sit together on the couch, being forced to face the angry authority ahead.

We look at each-other with fear in our eyes, except I've already been through all this with Mike. Looks like they are going to have to go through it too.

Armatures. I told them I was taking the fall!

Coach davis breaks the silence, "stay put and don't you dare say a word, the adults-"

Wow what a low blow, I'm only 2ish years away from being an adult!

"are going to go in the other room and discuss how to handle this. Got it?"

Four yes sirs are said in response to Coach Davis, and all four mentors leave the room.

I wonder if they're gunna do gay shit in there.

After they are out of view and I hear a door shut, I take this time to debrief with my friends. I whisper, "guys what the hell?"

"Look-" Kate states. "It was the right thing to do...I didn't want you to get expelled without us!"

I gasp quietly, "oh yeah, did you guys get suspended? Or what?"

Devyn joins the convo, "yup three days!"

I cover my mouth with my hand dramatically, "omg twins! But principal stonie said he's going to paddle me when I get back. Did he say that to y'all?"

The group looks at me in shock.

"Uh no? He said our mentors will take care of it." Devyn says slowly.

You've got to be kidding me.

I unload my next sentence a little too loudly out of habit, "there's no way that's fair! I swear he has it out for me!!"

"Shhh!" Mia says while covering my mouth. "We're already in enough shit as is, don't need your loud mouth to mess it up even more."

Okay what's with her attitude? I didn't force her to join my misery. Speaking of, I better not be getting in trouble for this with Mike. I did lie about who was involved but can you blame me? My ass is raw, can't take anymore or I might die.

Mike POV:
Us three mentors watch as Coach Davis paces in anger, not too sure when to break the tension.

He mumbles, "unacceptable" over and over.

"Davis" I say.

He stops pacing. Looking at me with anger in his eyes, "unacceptable!"

"What's the plan? I've punished Anna enough."

Mr. Wilson steps into the conversation, "Didn't Anna lie about who was involved? You condone lying now Mike?" He asks rhetorically and chuckles.

"I can make her write lines or something, but no more spanking will be happening to her today."
That's a sentence I never thought I would say, she might think she's not getting punished, but there are other ways to punish her besides just spanking.

Coach Davis chuckles in response to what I said, "yeah- wish I could say the same about Mia, that girl Is going to get it."

"So is Kate." Mr. Wilson adds.

Anna POV:
I can tell by looking at my friends faces that this is not going to go well. All of us suspended for 3 days? That's literally a mini vacation if our mentors didn't exist ugh!

The door opens and the lump in my throat grows bigger with anxiety.

Coach Davis clasps his hands together and takes a deep breath, "all right ladies-" "and devyn."
