chapter twenty two: i know now

The package on my porch turned out to be nothing but another check. My parents always send money as a sign that they're sorry for not coming home and a sign that I shouldn't get my hopes up for them coming home anytime soon.  Lowkey, that's a good thing that they're not coming home soon. It sounds messed up but I like my life better when they're not here, forcing me to be little miss perfect all the time.

The next few days at school were no where close to normal. The vandalizing just keeps getting worse and to make it even better, Kate keeps getting sent videos of me walking in the halls, talking to people, and of course, getting my ass beat. Now almost everyone in school knows what's happening to me and no one seems to know a thing! But one thing I do know is that whatever snake is doing this must think I hook up with guys all day or something because the one thing I noticed in all the notes I received is that they always seem to mention that I'm a slut. I haven't even been in a relationship with anyone in over 2 years! Especially no one at that dumb high school, so I'm stumped on who could be doing this.

But now It's finally the weekend and there's a party tonight at my friend Vance's house. Supposedly the whole freshman class is invited and I have nothing better to do so Devyn, Kate, Mia and I are going to go together. Hopefully this time is different. I haven't been to a party since that one time I woke up in the middle of nowhere...bad memories.

My phone goes off so I check it. Devyn says he is outside to pick me up. When I finish locking the door behind me I look up and my eyes immediately meet Devyn's. He smiles at me. And I can feel my face heat up from blushing. He greets me when I get into his car, Mia right behind me.

"Hi pretty girl, this time you get an upgrade to beautiful girl because of that dress." He grins, looking down at my breasts. 

I cough, "my face is up here pretty boy."

He looks up at me, startled and embarrassed because I caught him looking. He then turns toward the steering wheel, putting the car in drive. "Anyone know where Kate lives?" He announces to the car.

"Take a left after the next light," I answered. I know where Kate lives because I've been there a couple times. Also because she lives pretty close to me.

On the way over to Kate house, which was like 5 minutes, We jammed out to music. We were one of those booming cars where you can hear the music from miles away, honestly It's pretty fun. Devyn texts Kate we are outside and a couple minutes later we see her window open. She has to sneak out because her parents are strict and would never let her go to a party, especially with me. Her parents and I have had bad blood since the beginning. They think I'm a "bad Influence" when Kate is the pot head, not me.

She has her heels in hand, and climbs down the side of her window. Her house is convenient to sneak out of because she basically has a ladder next to her window. Of course It's not a real ladder but It's one of those outside house decorations which happens to be right next to her window. We all watch as Kate scurries to the car. Once she gets in we drive off super fast, not even greeting Kate yet because we have to make sure her parents don't notice a thing. Devyn turns up the music again because we are a quite a distance away from Kates house.

 Kate straps on her heels, She greets me, "Ready to get wasted!!?"

I chuckle, "not with me your not," I sigh, ever since Clay's party I've hesitant to drink again. 

She huffs out  a breath. "Fine! You party pooper!" Kate whines in a playful banter. I know she's not serious. "You better smoke with me though." She glances at me for verification. 

I nod and she squeals. I don't mind smoking, honestly It's super fun and I know Kate enjoys it.

A couple minutes go by and we are at the party. "Your first Stone Garden party Mia, how do you feel?" I joke, and put my fist in front of her face acting like its a microphone.
