Tae was lying on her bed with her headphones back in, absently twisting her wedding ring on her finger while wishing desperately to be anywhere else but her childhood bedroom.
Although the stars on the ceiling brought back nicer memories than the ones she was used to, all she could think about were dark things that kept plaguing her mind.
With the music playing from her phone she didn't hear Tiffany's I think we're alone now coming from somewhere in the house, but she did hear the sudden crack of thunder outside that sent rumbles through the entire house.
The sound coming from her headphones screeched, cutting out all of a sudden and she yanked them out at the horrific noise, jolting upright.
Tae frowned at the sight of flashes of blue light coming from the tiny space between her wall and curtain and got up to pull it aside. Outside in the back yard was a swirling blue vortex of energy that looked anything but normal, causing the shadows in her room to swirl angrily around her feet like a cat flicking it's tail when agitated.
The bright flashing light began to hurt her eyes and she backed away, letting the curtain close again.
Clutching her pounding head, the woman had no choice but to go downstairs and see what the fuck was going on. A wave of shadows followed her, roaming down the darkened corridors behind her like a cloak or set of demonic wings - she ended up being the last one outside, given her room was the furthest, and came to a stop behind the others who were all already arguing and staring up at the vortex above them.
The harsh wind blew her hair over her shoulder and she winced, shielding her face.
"Where the hell were you?" Diego asked, noticing her.
"Asleep."
"You were sleeping through this?!"
"Fuck off, alright!" She snapped back, making him go quiet.
He gave her a lingering look before something fell from the vortex and it closed, the thunder coming to an abrupt stop, the sky clearing up all except for the grey clouds.
Vanya put a gentle hand on her arm and she sighed, annoyed with herself.
"Does anyone else see little number Five or is it just me?"
She looked up at the fallen figure, eyebrows raising slightly. Her chest ached all of a sudden. More than usual.
The kid picked himself up, looking just the same as when he had stabbed his butter knife into the table and ran away all those years ago.
He looked around at all of them. "Shit."
Tae rubbed her eyes, head hurting more somehow.
She briefly considered if she was hallucinating. But everyone else's reactions told her otherwise.
