The Dark Carnival

2. The Invintation

Kira walked up to the counter that had the strange note. It was like a carnival invitation but it was more.. Dark and colorless. Yes, there was color but there wasn't a lot of it. It was only the balloons and confetti that was the only thing that was really colored on the whole thing. It was small like a note card but it seemed larger from far away which was trippy to Kira.
Once Kira picked up the strange invitation, it felt like some sort of leather and a material that seemed like it would break if she dropped it so she was careful with it and gentle to not break it or rip it. Kira had a weird feeling about this but she decided to open it anyway because what could go wrong now? Her life is already crappy, why not make it even worse so she opened the invitation and read it to herself silently
“Hello Kira! You have been invited to a dark carnival! If you accept this invitation, you need to go to the bus stop downtown and our vehicle will personally pick you up, Sincerely The Ringmaster, Z”
Kira found this completely weird because it was addressed directly to her and not her parents. Now even her sister. (Which was a miracle because her greedy sister would just on her own with her boyfriend or smth)
She looked around and looked at the invitation conjuring an idea in her head. Kira was honestly confused on where her parents and siblings would have gone because their cars were gone but they didn't leave a note or smth, which she found odd.
She decided to take the chance to go see this since her life has been bad so far. Kira grabbed the invitation and grabbed her jacket. She looked around the house one last time and made her way out of the house and made her way out the door to go to the bus stop.
Once Kira got to the bus stop, a weird white car was there and it seemed to be waiting for her. She looked at the car and hesitantly stepped towards the car. As she sighed, she got into the car and sat silently. The stranger in the car closed the windows and locked the doors. The windows dimmed so it was completely dark in the car except for the small light on the top of the car.
The stranger started to drive but spoke to Kira.
“What's your name?” the stranger asked.
“I'm Kira..” Kira responded hesitantly.
“Kira..Listen to the others. Every mad man has advice. Some have lust, some have greed. Some have an interest in envy.” The stranger explained while driving the car.
“What do you mean by that?” Kira asked, now a bit nervous with a pit down deep in her stomach that something wasn't quite right about this.
“Nothing. Just go to sleep. We Have a long drive ahead of us so you should probably get some rest. You look exhausted.” The stranger says, looking in the mirror to look at Kira. The stranger seemed to be a female but her skin was pink with 2 sets of eyes. Her normal eyes then another set of eyes where her eyebrows would be. She has 3 circles on the top of her ears but they didn't look like earrings, they were part of her ears. She also has a bright red lip with green emerald eyes that could pierce into anyone's souls. She has pink lotus flowers in her skin and in her dark green hair in a short cut to her shoulders. She honestly looked like Melanie Martinez if that's what you want to call it. She has a black hoodie with the hood up and pants on to hide who she was but Kira could see her face from the mirror.
Kira got immediately uncomfortable and creeped out but tried to act normal before the strange woman spoke in her normal voice which was a lower female voice that sounded like if she screamed, it would sound like a banshee.
“I didn't mention my name. I'm Kate. Nice to meet you officially, Kira.” Kate spoke, turning the car around a corner.
“Y..yeah.. Nice to meet you as well Kate..” Kate stuttered, very anxious.
“We have a long drive ahead of us so you should probably get some rest. You look exhausted.” Kate says, looking in the mirror to look at Kira again like last time. Her presence was more comforting now than being uncomfortable.
“A..Alright.. “ Kira spoke nervously but a bit more comfortably than last time. She leaned back on the seat which seemed to actually be a grass like texture on the seat but Kira didn't mind and decided to actually fall asleep.
As Kira slept, the car continued to run while Kate drove.
Until Kate got a strange phone call.
She pulled the car over and answered the phone.
“Kate speaking, what do you need, boss? I'm kinda in the middle of doing something right now.” Kate spoke, slightly worried now. She continued on with the conversation. “Yeah boss, I have her in the backseat.” “No? She's not injured! Why would I hurt her? You'd kill me again!” “Yeah..right. Boss I get that but- ""WHAT!? NO! You can't do that to her, she's a human!  You know she can't stay here!” “I.. fine,  fine. I'll still bring her but don't do anything harsh or pushy with her. You can't force people to do that kind of stuff, boss.” “Alright.. Alright. See you when we get there. DONT FORCE HER TO DO ANYTHING LIKE THAT EITHER!” Kate shouted then hung up the phone. She turned the car back on and started to drive again. Now heading to their destination.
