i drag my feet while treading through the grains of sand, many particles collecting underneath my slippers. that doesn't matter though, since I plan on washing all of it away.

i turn my gaze towards sadie and rory, the two girls relaxing on the blankets. the weather isn't hot, infact, it's a bit windy. i'm not sure if sadie was expecting a sunny day at the beach, but i'm perfectly content with the current conditions. i prefer chilly weather.

i turn my head upwards to catch a glimpse of the sky, which wasn't painful to look at for once. it's been a while since the atmosphere has felt this way during daytime.

faint shouts from afar are audible. upon glancing back down, i see the two signalling towards me. i stroll towards them before taking a seat next to rory.

the three of us formed a decision to take a dip in the water. which, admittedly, was not the best idea considering the current condition of the weather.

but we did drive a considerable distance to get here, carrying along pairs of swimsuits.

rory is the first of us to go in, letting out countless squeals of "oh my god!" as her bare legs touch the cold water.

sadie laces her fingers within mine prior to us entering the water together. i let out a string of curse words, glaring at the unbothered redhead who doesn't seem to flinch at the temperature.

"witch" i point towards her, an exaggerated fearful expression painted on my face.

she doesn't response, instead splashes me with the ice cold water, making me emit a screech which surprised even myself that it didn't come from rory.

i exert all of my strength into splashing her back, a sharp gasp being released from her lips.

i provide her an over-exaggerated evil laugh before splashing her countless other times.

the intense splashing continues from both ends while the blonde in the group peacefully floats around the water, straying far from them.

after the splashing comes to a halt, sadie and i sit in comfortable silence for a moment or two.

"wanna go build a sandcastle?" a smile was apparent in the redhead's voice.

i serve her an immediate nod before the both of us sprint out to the sand, just then realising we don't have any of the things needed.

sadies frown vanishes when she takes notice to the unattended sandcastle building kit laid on the sand near our feet.

she turns towards to me with a smirk as i realise what idea had entered her mind. i raise my eyebrows. "what? that could belong to a child"
