I stood alone in the middle of a dark, empty street. It was so dark I could barely see my own hands in front of me. My ex-boyfriend had just left me there, and I had never been so distraught. I was wearing a short black dress, which was a bad choice for this cold night. As i continued standing there, I couldn't help but begin to cry."Ugh, this is awful," I muttered to myself. I grabbed my phone and called my older brother, Caleb.
Ring, ring, ring.
"What do you want?"
"Finally, you answered! I need you to come pick me up."
"Um... I'm kinda busy right now," his voice sounding distracted.
I heard moaning from his line in the background. I couldn't believe it. My own brother is too busy to help me out, and its because his having messing around with some girl.
"please" i beg.
"Okay, he'll come, just stay where you are. I've got your location on my phone."
"Thanks! Wait... 'he'? Who's h-"
"Please not who i think it is" i mutter to myself
Before I could finish my question, Caleb hung up.
I groaned in frustration and sat down on the cold pavement, waiting.
Half an hour passed, and then I saw bright headlights turning onto the street. I shielded my eyes from the sudden brightness. I stood up and saw a sleek black Maserati pull up in front of me. It looked brand new, but I knew it wasn't. I recognised the driver, and I wasn't happy about it.
The driver rolled down the window, revealing himself. He had long, dark, braided hair and deep brown eyes that seemed annoyed. "Get in," he said coldly.
I walked over and opened the car door but stumbled a bit because my head was still spinning. He turned down the music and leaned in close to me. "You're drunk," he said in a mean tone.
"Yeah, well, I just came from a party. What did you expect?" I replied, rolling my eyes.
He stayed silent for a moment, then finally spoke, "So why isn't your boyfriend picking you up?" There was a smirk on his face.
I corrected him, saying, "Ex-boyfriend."
"Oh, what happened?" he asked, his voice still cold, and that smirk never left his face.
"It's none of your business," I muttered, looking out the window away from him.
"Well, it kind of is since you're in my car," he replied as he continued to drive.
"I just lost interest," I said, looking at him. He seemed bored. I looked out the window, and the rest of the car ride was quiet.
Then, I got a text from my ex-boyfriend, Josh. Yes, his name is fucking Josh. The message read: "Alex, come over. I'm sorry. Let's get back together. I need you."
I stared at the message for a moment, not sure what to do or how I felt. I looked away from my phone, thinking about whether I should go back to Josh. But before I could decide, Tom, snatched my phone from my hand.
"Hey, Tom!" I protested.
Ignoring me, he started reading through my text messages. He looked really angry when he saw my conversation with Josh. "Is this your ex?" he asked, sounding mad.
"It's none of your business! Give it back!" I begged.
Tom didn't listen. He started texting Josh, and I tried to grab my phone back, but he pushed me away and gave me a stern look. "Don't," he warned.
When he finally gave my phone back, I looked at the screen in shock. tom wrote to josh "she's busy, don't ever fucking text her again." Josh had blocked me.
I gasped. "Why did you do that?"
Tom looked at me with that same smirk and said, "Why not?" He then focused on driving and told me to be quiet. I sat there, feeling frustrated and helpless as I stared out the window.
