We had all arrived at the gate, waiting for us to be able to board the flight. I had forgotten to ask the others which seat they had, but I knew we were all sitting in the same area. Myself, I had a window seat.

"Hey, I've got seat 17A, it's a window seat. Who's got 17B?" I asked. Matt and Nick were sitting in the chairs, Katie, Jamie, Alex and I were standing. Matt shook his head, same did Nick.

"Let me check, I think I might have gotten that one, Bella," Katie smiles. I smiled back at her. God, I was really hoping I didn't have to sit next to Alex for a whole 11-hour flight. Katie looked up from her boarding pass, shaking her head.
"Sorry, I've got 18A." I knew Jamie was sitting next to Katie, so it wasn't him either.

"What? Noo," I groaned and rolled my eyes. "What about you, is your seat 17B?" I asked Alex in a slightly irritated voice. He checked his boarding pass, looking up from it and nodding. Not any emotion was shown on his face. His sunglasses made it ten times harder for me to tell.

Why is he wearing sunglasses anyway? We're literally inside.

"Great," I smiled, hoping it seemed genuine because it wasn't. I looked away from him, rolling my eyes. Unbelieveable. It was then our time to board, all of us strolling up to the scanners.

We all got into the flight, found our seats and sat down. I had a book in my purse that I could read, but of course that wasn't enough for an 11-hour flight. Alex then sat down beside me, taking out a book from his bag.

"Hey, I love that book. Edgar Allan is incredible," I say enthusiastically, trying to make up a conversation with him. I took my own book out from my purse, which happened to also be an Edgar Allan Poe book. I held it up beside me, smiling at him.
"Yeah, he's alright," Alex says coldly, not even looking up at me. At this point, I wanted nothing more than just confront him and ask what the fuck his problem was. But I managed to wait. Turning away from him I looked over the seat to Katie. She was getting something from her purse as well.

"See you in eleven hours, huh?" I ask, smiling at her. She laughed, and I joined her.
"Yeah, I honestly just can't wait to get to the hotel and relax. It's torture waking up this early just to catch a flight," Katie said. I nodded in agreement before the small instrument above my head started making a beep sound. The seatbelt on it turned green, and I then fastened my seatbelt.

"So, are you excited to get to LA?" I ask Alex.

Oh my god, shut up Arabella. He doesn't care!

"Yeah, um, I guess so. It's always nice working on a new record. You really get your mind to work," he replied. That was probably the longest sentence he had ever spoken to me, let alone the most he had ever looked at me. The whole time he was talking, his eyes never let go of mine. His sunglasses were in his hands, which were resting in his lap.
"Um... That's nice," I honestly had no idea what to say or do. It sounds stupid, I wasn't shaken that he could speak. Of course, he could. But his reply sounded genuine.
The plane was then about to take off, and I looked out the window to try to avoid getting sick.

-

That leads us here. Me bent over the small toilet on the plane. How nice.
I wasn't great with any sort of vehicles, only cars. I felt like shit, quite literally. I was so consumed in my own thoughts I almost didn't hear the knock on the door.
"Sorry, um- it's occupied," I mumble. I threw up again.
"Arabella it's me, Alex. Are you alright in there?" Alex asked.
Alex? Seriously? Was this a joke?
"Why would you care?" I snarled back at him. The last person in the world I would expect to ask me that, was him.
"Come on, just open the door for me," he pleaded.

I grabbed a wet wipe and wiped my mouth, then opened the door to let him in. Alex got in, turned around and locked the door again.

"Are you alright?" He looked concerned.
"What do you think?" I reply, my brows furrowed, in a harsh tone. I was about to stand up again when I could feel myself about to fall. Right before I was gonna trip, Alex caught me.

"Hey- don't trip," He said, holding both my arms.
"Sorry- I get really sick on flights..." I mumbled, covering my mouth with one hand.
"Do you mind? Sorry-" I murmur. Alex looked at me for a bit before losing his grip on me.

"I'll go get you a cup of water, okay?" He said, still looking concerned. Alex then got out of the small toilet. Then I threw up again.

-

A few seconds passed and someone knocked on the door again. I opened it, and Alex was there with a cup of water.
"Thank you so much- I really appreciate it," I mutter.
"No, it's not your fault, really. It's alright," He smiled at me. Alex was leaning against the sink, I was still sitting on the floor.
There was silence for a minute. Only broken by my small sips of water.
"Why do you care?" I ask him. I look up from the floor, genuinely wanting an answer. "Don't you have some kind of problem with me? Like, seriously-" I asked him again. He looked down at me, with a shook smile.

"A problem? What made you think I have a problem with you?" He chuckled. Alex seemed surprised I asked him that.
"Well, you never look at me, you never engage in the conversations. I don't know if I have done anything wrong, but if I have, please tell me," A long exhale followed. Alex was still looking at me, a bit surprised I would guess.
"No, nothing you have done. I guess I'm just not very great at that... Conversations. You know, sometimes I'm just nervous or afraid to stutter. It's got nothing to do with you, Arabella,"

He looked up at the door instead of me. His arms were crossed and his answer seemed somewhat genuine. I was shook, to say the least.

"Wait- what? So you don't hate me?" I reply with a smile, my brows furrowed. He shook his head in response, still looking at the very interesting door. I then looked away from him, rethinking all of this.

After some silence, thinking and a bit of eye contact, I suggested; "We should go back to the others. They're probably wondering where we are by now," I was met by a smile and a nod.
"Thanks for the water, by the way"
