We got to Alex's house. They were all standing outside, waiting with their suitcases. Of course, Alex was wearing his sunglasses. It looked a bit stupid since it was cloudy. And cold.
Both me and Katie step out of the car to greet them both.
"Hey Matt!" I yell from behind the car. I quickly get around it and get to hug him.
I liked Matt. He was so funny and always managed to put a smile on my lips. Besides Katie, I think he was one of my best friends.
"Oh, hello there, Bella!" he stumbles and laughs as I jump and wrap my arms around his neck.
I pull away from the hug and ask, "How have you been? Is everything alright?" My hands resting on my hips.
"Yeah, everything is going great actually, but God I've missed you so much. I accidentally watched Blade Runner without you, sorry.." He snickered at me. I offendedly raise my brows at him, also smiling.
"You watched Blade Runner without me? How dare you! You bastard!" I playfully hit him while we were both laughing our asses off.
"Oh, Nick! I missed you so incredibly much!" I exclaim before pulling Nick into a big, tight hug. He was a shy guy, but extremely nice. A literal angel.
"Hey Arabella," he smiles at me.
I then turn to Alex and pull him in for a hug. This felt more like a polite, family-member-i-dont-really-know hug.
"Hey, Alex," I greet him with a smile as well. No smile in return.
It always felt awkward for no reason as he never appeared excited to see me.
"How are you doing?" I ask as he slowly pulls away from the hug.
"Uh, I'm doing great.."
Great.
Excellent.
Enthralling to hear.
I smile politely and, after a second of awkward silence, walk back to the car. I see the others chatting before loading the suitcases into the trunk.
Katie, Jamie and Nick occupied the front seats, while Matt, Alex, and I sat in the back of the spacious. It was nice the van had three front seats, so we all had some space. Fortunately, there was no need to squeeze together. Specifically, I sat on the left, Alex in the middle, and Matt on the right.
We headed to the airport. Jamie, Katie, Matt and Nick were chatting about something concerning the hotel and studio. Both I and Alex were quiet for most of the ride, besides the small talk."Want a mint?" I ask as I hold out a small box of mints.
"No, thank you," he replies.
Alex always acted coldly towards me, but I never knew why. I had asked Katie about it, but she said he's just shy, which I doubt. Alex wasn't a huge "talker", but he was a lead singer after all.
"So um, are you excited? About this whole thing? New album... LA?" I blabber.
Gosh, stop the nervous talking, Arabella!
"Yeah, I guess I am.." he didn't look like he was in the mood to talk. I couldn't even see his eyes behind the glasses, unsure if he was even looking in my direction.
I look at him and squint for a few seconds before turning to the window instead.
Why is he like this? Am I really this annoying? I mean I might speak a lot when I'm nervous, but come on!
The rest of the ride to the airport was quiet. At least between me and Alex. The others kept chatting about some stuff I didn't pay attention to.
"So, got any ideas? Anything you would like to spoil?" I let out a quiet laugh, not even a proper one.
He just glanced at me. For one second.
"No, um... Not anything serious at the moment, no..." He stuttered a bit, looking out the front window, trying to turn his body away from me.
Alright. Thanks for, well, nothing.
"Right.." I murmur out under my breath, turning back to my window, and folding my hands in my thighs.
