After a while of driving, I finally made it to the park. I hopped out of the car and sat on the bench that faced the water fountain before sighing and slumping in my seat. I relaxed listening to the water from the fountain slosh around. However, My peaceful moment was interrupted by my head suddenly feeling like it was burning. My growl was almost inhumane as I looked around daring him to be here. Then my eyes met him far off near the tree leaning up against it. I glared daggers at him to which he only smirked and walked towards me, luckily for me he was alone.
“What do you want from me!? Can I please sit by the fountain for five minutes without feeling your eyes burn into my head?” I said annoyed. He chuckled sitting next to me on the bench before saying, “You’ll get used to the burning, it comes with the territory.” I sighed annoyed.
“What does that even mean? You’re saying all these things as if we’re going to be the best of friends.” I said rolling my eyes even though he probably couldn’t see me.
“I never asked your name.” he stated in response, ignoring what I asked him previously.
“What do you want that for?” I asked.
“I’m just curious, how am I going to have decent conversation with you if I don’t know your name.” He fired back.
“Do you have plans on having more conversations with me? And did you really go on a hunt to find me just so you can ask my name?” I asked questions once again.
He only sighed waiting for me to tell him my name. I did my best to block my thoughts of just making a run for it, however, I knew he saw them when he smiled at me and raised an eyebrow slightly, still waiting for my response. I quickly tried to think up a name, any name at all.“Adam.” I quickly said out of nowhere. He sighed shaking his head, “Why can’t you ever just be honest with me Matt?” He asked. My eyes widened at that, then I remembered he heard Shawn say it, I was hoping he hadn’t heard it, but it looks like he had. “If you’re the Matt, I think you are, we have things to discuss.” He said looking into my eyes.
“How do we know?” I asked hoping I wasn’t who he was looking for. Deep down part of me knew I was exactly who he was looking for.
“Take off the mask and we’ll know.” He responded. For some reason, after I stared into his eyes for a moment, I didn’t feel like I was in any danger. Any fear I had dropped when I looked into his grey eyes. I longed to take off the mask and show him who I was, whether I was the one he was looking for or not. My hand slowly went up to the mask and unbuckled each strap, once I had, my mask fell on my lap and my face was now exposed to him.
