"Outside"

The sky is dark outside,
The rain is falling outside,
The fox is running outside,
The bunny is cowering outside,
And the large man is walking outside.

My heart is like outside,
My soul has fallen outside,
I've run like that fox,
And cowered like that bunny,
And walked stiffly like that man.

I see no stars,
Unlike most nights,
When stars are bright and shiny.

I see thick clouds,
Full of wonder and beauty,
And smelling of hope.

Hope out of this drought.
Hope for our town.
Hope for us.

There is hope outside.
