Quick note for this chapter: Monchou's yaksha mask is mentioned in this chapter. Her chapter has blue dragon horns and silver tears falling from the eyes. Instead of a mouth or fangs (like Xiao's) the  'mouth' is covered with silver chains. Comment if there are any questions.

My eyes shot open and I felt my heart stop for a moment. The nightmares just kept getting worse. Another night of chains and darkness might make me crazy. Something was wrong. I never got nightmares and now they were just getting worse. Swinging my legs out of bed, I quickly pulled my clothes on and combed my pure white hair into two maiden buns. I had to leave. I had to see if...if the adepti were still alive. It was the possible truth that faced me right now.

Creeping through the hall of the house I lived in. Satisfied that no one was awake, I dashed out into the open of Qingce Village. Glancing around quickly, I let out a held breath and waved a hand over my face, my mask covering my face. This was my prison and my home. Steeling myself, I left all emotions connected to this place and passed through the boundaries of Qingce Village.

The first couple of miles were all mountains, pillars of rock surrounding all sides of the valley. But before I knew it, I left the mountains valley into flat, grassy land. A strange feeling pulled me toward the east, and the farther I went east, the more people there were. That strange feeling made me want blood. I wanted it. I needed it. I told myself these instincts were wrong. Mortals were not evil, nor bad unless they chose to.

Soon, I snapped. The feeling overtook my mind as three mortals passed by me on the road. All three mortals took one look at my masked face and screamed, or they would have if my polearm had not pierced each one through the heart. Collapsing to the ground in bewilderment, my mask fading away, I looked at my hands, still clutching my polearm.

"What have I done?" I breathed, trying to wipe the blood off my hands. Standing shakily, I arranged the bodies and placed flowers in each of their hands over their chest. Without a backward glance, I hurried away. Still being guided by my 'inner compass', I was met with the sound of armor and hurrying feet.

Surrounding me was a few dozen soldiers. "By order of the Millelith, you are under arrest for murder." One of the soldiers proclaimed, "Surrender and we will take you into custody. Resist and will kill you." The flashbacks hit.

I don't want to go back. The dark, the loneliness, the shackles. No. I can't go back into imprisonment. I can't. No. No!
