"You never told me they were dead!" I dropped my bowl of Almond Tofu, turning to see a furious Desmios.

"What are you talking about, Desmios?" I slowly straightened. Her finger poked me in the chest.

"Call me Monchou, " her eyes blazed with anger. "You didn't tell me all the Yakshas were dead. "Bonanus and the rest?" I had to hear it from Lady Ningguang." her voice turned deadly.

Sighing, I turned to the moon, leaning against the balcony railing. "I wanted to tell you." I said sadly, "I didn't know who to. Desmios, you didn't see their deaths. It was... horrifying."

Desmios didn't answer, instead, I looked to see her crying, her white hair hanging around her face. I moved towards her, hesitantly wrapping an arm around her.

"Go away," she muttered, half-heartedly pushing me away. I dropped my arm, looking away from her. Her hand somehow found mine, clutching it tightly as she sobbed harder. I wrapped my arms around her as she collapsed in my embrace. I pressed a cheek to her head, closing my eyes. "Can you stay with me tonight?" Desmios whispered tiredly, her head moving up to look at me.

"Of course," I assured her. She broke away from me to go change, returning shortly after in a white night dress that reached her knees. Her white hair blew in the wind, making her look like a ghost who was about to disappear. Afraid that she would, I grabbed her hand, relaxing when I felt her warm hand in mine.

Desmios climbed into bed, her hand still holding mine as I lay down on the other side of the bed, my free arm crossing over my stomach. I stared at the wooden ceiling, not aware of anything but Desmios' soft breathing and her hand in mine.

Ever since she got back, peace and calm found me again, even when she was angry at me. I heard her sniffling, causing me to turn on my side to look at her. Tears were falling from her closed eyes, her head tucking farther into her chest. It pained me to see her like this, all sad and broken. I didn't want her to be like this. I wanted her to stay safe and happy.

I moved closer to her, drawing her to my chest, and loosely wrapped my arm around her waist. She curled up in my arms, her hand tightening on mine as her crying slowly ceased. Pain was still written across her face making my heart wrentch in agony. Pressing my lips to her forehead, I gave her a soft kiss, closing my eyes against her.
