I teach Fitz a lesson about what happens when you grab people without consent.

When I got to school, I loitered around, waiting for Fitz to show. I had zero idea where my first class even was, so I headed in a random direction, dragging my feet.

A hand grabbed my arm and pulled me into the shadows. By pure reflex, I twisted out of the person's grasp and slapped them in the face. Then I remembered it was Fitz.

"Oh, it's you. See, this is what happens when you grab people, Fitz. You get slapped. Do not grab me again, or you're going to get more than a slap." I said while Fitz held his cheek looking more than miffed.

"Um, you could've at least said sorry for slapping me," Fitz growled.

"You grabbed me, lest you forget," I wagged my finger at him. "Really what did you expect? You tell me I'm not human, leave me alone with a ton of unanswered questions, no way to find you, no warning of when you would be back, then you finally grace me with your presence by grabbing my arm and you're the one upset?"

"You could've at lea-"

"Oh yeah, and some guy showed up this morning and tried to run off with me," I said, remembering I was supposed to mention this to him.

"Wait, what? What guy?"

"I don't know, some blond guy showed up and tried to trick me into wandering off with him, and when I wouldn't, he looked like he was about to haul me away on the spot. Also, he was another elf, because I couldn't hear his thoughts."

"No one else knows you're here, except my dad, and he sent me to get you." Fitz swept his hair out of his face.

"Then why couldn't I hear his thoughts?"

"I don't know," he admitted. "Are you sure you couldn't?"

"One hundred and ten percent. Out of a hundred percent." I said assuredly.

"My guess is he is human, and maybe his mind is quieter than the others. But we'll check with my dad. We'd better move though." he pointed to a teacher who was eyeing us like she suspected we were about to bomb the building. Like, don't you have something better to do than to stand out here and eye-accuse people? "We can't leap with people around."

"Okay then. Let's get a move on." I said.

We quickly walked outside and he grabbed my hand and held the pathfinder up to the light.
