FLASHBACK

"Hey guys! Wake up!" Luffy says as he tries to wake all the kids up. Atredeis, being the first who had been woken up because of the sound, walked towards his little sister to wake her up gently as Luffy woke Ethan and Eric.

"What is it big bro?" Calytrix asked Atredeis, rubbing her eyes and yawning.

"Shanks is back! Your father is back, Calytrix!" Luffy happily told them the news. When Calytrix heard that her father was back, she got up happily and went to where she knew her father was. The other kids are tailing behind her, helping her up if she tumbles sometimes from running too fast.

"There you are kids! I was wondering when you'd pop out." Shanks, Calytrix's uncle-father says when he saw them running to him. Kneeling to somewhat match his daughter's height, he opened his arms, and she hugged him.

"I missed you!" She says and Shanks got back up, carrying Calytrix in his arms.

"Our favorite street urchins come to welcome us back, how'd you been doing kids?" One of Shanks crew, Yassop said.

"We're not urchins, we're pirates!" Luffy announces, making all the grown-ups laugh.

"He's not joking! We're ready to join the crew!" Eric says as he went to his father, Ertle.

"The sea isn't a child's game, it's dangerous. The scars on my face are proof of that." Shanks told him as he let Calytrix play with his hair.

"We can do it, Shanks. I swear." Luffy tried to push it.

"You're not ready." Shanks told the young boy.

"I am! And I'll show you!" Luffy, as stubborn as ever, took a knife and went up. Eric hasn't said any other word because he knows that Shanks was right.

"Dad, you know that Luffy is stubborn, but he really wants to be a pirate. He told me it's his dream to be the pirate king and to find the one piece one day."

"Better a disappointed kid now than a dead one later, princess." He told Calytrix before setting her down on the floor. Calytrix looked up and saw Luffy with a knife in his grasp.

"Dad! Look! It's Luffy up there!" Calytrix cried out to her father as she pointed in the direction of Luffy. Scared of what her friend might do to himself.

"Put the knife down, Luffy! Before you hurt yourself!" Shanks ordered him, placing a comforting hand on his daughter's shoulder to calm her down. Signaling either Atredeis or Ethan to take her away for moment. The two of them pulled Calytrix into a place where she would not see anything that might happen.

"I'm not afraid of getting hurt! And I'll show it to you!" Luffy says and he stabs his cheek soon after. His cry at the pain made Calytrix want to run to him, but Deis was quick to hold her.

"Don't, he'll be fine, Calytrix. I don't want you to see whatever mess he made, I'm sure your father doesn't want you too either." His voice is scary, but not too scary to scare her away. She reluctantly let them lead her to wherever they wanted to take her just to avoid the scene, still worried about her friend.

After a while, Shanks managed to get him stitch up Luffy's wound at his cheek. "At least you didn't get your eye." Shanks tells him as the three other children peaked into the room they are in.

"I was aiming for it, but I missed." He replied.

"I thought you said you were tough."

"I am! Don't stitch it too good. I want everyone to see my scar."
