Author's pov
Kritika's eyes flickered between Rehan and the man sitting on the sofa in white kurta pajama paired with black nehru jacket. The man seemed to be in his late 40's with moustache. He was sitting earlier but when he saw Rehan approaching him, he stood up on his toes facing him. He had a smirk on his face, which infuriated Rehan to ten folds.
But that wasn't much surprising for Kritika as compared to the people tagged along with that man. They all were wearing white kurtas with a similar logo printed on it. Before she can poke her nose more into the matter, Amrita skidded to her and pulled her to the kitchen area followed by Aman.
"Apki Vihaan Bhai se baat hui?" She asked in a hurried manner.
( Did you talk to Vihaan Bhai? )
"No, but... why are you asking me that? And who are these people?"
The twins exchanged looks before replying to her question.
"He is Virendra Ahlawat. MLA of ruling party." Aman said.
"Ohh... tabhi main kahu ki yeh safed kabutar kyun hai inke sath. Par ye yahan kyun aaye hain?" She asked eyeing the man who gave a formal hug to Rehan, which looked more like a forced one as Rehan didn't made any effort in reciprocating the hug.
( Ohh... That's why I thought why these white pigeons are with him. But why is he here? )
"Apni beti ke liye Vihaan Bhai ka hath mangne." Kritika snapped her head back with a force towards Amrita after hearing her words.
( To ask for vihaan Bhai's hand for his daughter. )
"He said his daughter and Bhai were friends. And now he wishes to convert that friendship into family ties." Aman exclaimed in a displeased tone.
"What's with your expressions?" She gave him a worried look.
"Bhabhi sa yaar....." He whined like a kid and hugged Kritika from behind keeping his chin on her shoulder while Amrita shook her head at her dramatic brother.
"He is a cunning man. He literally ate people's seats to reach such a position. What if his daughter is also like him? I don't want her to snatch my only gaming partner."
"Why don't you get him married to one of your sister?" He added further.
"Cause I don't have one buddy. And moreover, it's Vihaan's decision about whom he wants to marry and whom not." She patted his cheeks unaware of her husband's gaze, who was drilling holes in his own brother's back from his seat.
"That's why we were calling Vihaan Bhai but his phone was out of reach." Amrita reasoned out.
"Let me try." Kritika said and dialled Vihaan. Answer was same. Phone was out of reach. She dropped him a message asking for him to come soon or call back.
After that, the trio made their way towards the centre of the hall. Kritika greeted Virendra by joining her hands and slightly bent down to touch his feets as she doesn't want to look arrogant. But Virendra stopped her in the mid air.
"Humare yahan betiyaan pair nhi chuti. Vaise.... kayi baar logon ko kehte suna tha ki kaafi lucky hai aap Rehan ke liye, tab samajh nahi aaya. Par ab lagta hai shayad sahi keh rhe the vo. Right Rehan???" His remark lead Kritika to frown. She moved her eyes to Rehan and found him staring Virendra blankly with clenched fists. She wasn't sure earlier but now she's getting suspicious of these two.
