(Basically a Cinderella story, but with a few twists.)

Sweet dreams never last for long. Y/N woke up with a start as her stepmother shouted for her to serve them. She slept in the rundown attic, which was barely ever touched except by her.

"Ugh," she groaned as she dressed and brushed her hair. Despite her attractiveness, she was a scullery maid.

As she prepared breakfast for her stepsisters, she muttered to herself, "One day, a handsome man will rescue me!"

After a while, she was suddenly slapped in the face for what seemed like a small mistake. It turned out that she had over-brewed the tea, making it bitter.

"I asked for sweet tea, not this bitter concoction that tastes like old coffee!" Her stepsister, Prudence,  mocked in frustration.

"I'm sorry," she said with a sympathetic smile, "I promise to make it better next time."

Her stepsister grumbled, "I hope so!" with a teasing tone.

What ugly girls her stepsisters were.   Unattractive, loud, and stupider than a rock.

As she washed the dishes, she couldn't help but sob.

"What have I done to deserve such a fate!?  All I did was be kind to everyone!"

Suddenly, the family cat brushed against her leg.

"Hello, Lucy." she greeted the cat as she picked her up, "You're my only friend."

Indeed, it was true.   She only had a cat as her friend.

The cat walked away after receiving a small piece of tuna.

"How I wish I could escape from this living hell," she sighed.

After she was done the dishes, she did the laundry and all the other things.

She hesitantly asked her stepmother if she needed any more help. "The King is hosting a ball. If you finish your chores, you may go," her stepmother replied.

"Alright, thank you," Y/N said as she grabbed her broom.

Y/N hurriedly dressed for the ball in a stunning gown gifted by her stepmother for her impeccable work.

"But Mother...!  She can't go!   She's an embarrassment to us all!" Her stepsisters begged.

"Everyone!  What do you think?" Y/N smiled as she gave a twirl.

Her stepsisters grabbed her skirt, ripped it and cackled loudly.

"You're a fool if you think we'll let you go!"

Y/N's stepmother shouted in disappointment, calling out for Prudence and Priscilla.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Y/N ran to the mansion's courtyard and broke down in tears.

Suddenly, light began to flash around her.

An old woman appeared before her, and she introduced herself as her fairy godmother.

"Fairy Godmother?"

"Indeed.  Now, my dear child, it's time to fix up that dress."

Y/N's dress was magically transformed into a beautiful white colour, with repaired rips and puffier sleeves. Her hair and makeup were done, and her fur boots were replaced with glass slippers.

"I must warn you though, it will be uncast at midnight and you'll return to normal," she warned.

Y/N was left speechless but gave a curtsy and muttered a thank you.
