It had been two weeks since he was impregnated, and a week since they all found out. His stomach was slightly swollen, and sore. He didn't feel the pain anymore, it seemed that now his womb was fully formed he was okay. However new symptoms started to form, he got morning sickness. Aonung and Kiri were by his side, and when they weren't his mum was mentoring him through it. When Loak found out he was so shocked and denied it, until he saw his brother. He wasn't looking well at all, he tried to bring him things to cheer him up and tell him stories at night. Loak joked with Neteyam and showed him a cut he had recently got, telling him the details of his adventures. He had moved back home for the time being, until things settled down. He mourned their time together wishing it could all go back to before. It didn't feel like a blessing from the great mother, it felt like a punishment.
Neteyam wasn't bed bound, he refused to sit by and do nothing, everyone being careful because they knew he was the first in hundreds of years to have a male born pregnancy. Nobody was sure of what would happen next. He had frequent visits with Norm, who he was eternally grateful to. Ronal was hesitant to let them into their space, but knew her son's mate needed their help, they all needed the science guys' help. Lost and confused, Neteyam would spend his time amongst family, and Aonung. When he swam, when he ate and when he worked he would keep positive. There was nothing else to do other than to be positive for this gift. A storm brewed in Aonung's mind, but he knew- trust Neteyam. Trust your mate, he is a strong warrior, and a future father if it all goes well. Kiri had told him one night by the fire "Having children is not always the will of eywa, you don't have to do this. It's okay to not be brave, it's okay to be scared" and to that he frowned and went to sleep without another word. Torn between worlds, but he knew he needed to have this baby.
It was the day of the weekly ultrasound, he had invited both families to see the baby. This was their first grandchild. The gel was cool and tickled him, he was still relatively flat yet swollen so he felt the pressure of the tool as it pushed into his skin. The monitor showed the tiny seed, and Neteyam swooned. He was starting to fall in love every time he saw into the future, imagining his time with his new child. Aonung was staring hesitantly, he didn't wish to have children if it meant he couldn't have Neteyam healthy, but when he saw his smiling face he felt at ease. Neytiri smiled seeing the image. The families ate together, in a positive mood. Tuk sat by his side and asked him to tell her a story. He started to talk and tell her about riding with his Ikran "one day we will get you your own, Tuk" eating, she smiled and looked down to his stomach with curiosity.
Aonung kissed him goodbye when the families parted ways, as it was well into the night and everyone was tired. Neteyam wanted to be alone with him, he didn't like all these eyes. Aonung didn't care, he was passionate about his love and wasn't shy. Neteyam looked him up and down and Aonung didn't fold- without much of anything he left, after saying some sweet words. Neteyam was struck with an awful feeling, he wanted to spend the night with him- he wanted to be selfish. Aonung wanted him, but couldn't risk anything- being ultra careful with him, as if he could break at any second. Neteyam was sick of it, he wanted to have sex, it had been a whole week with complete abstinence. He thought the boy was blowing him off due to all the stress he was causing, and it made him feel terrible. He felt a shift in their relationship, he needed to have a talk with him.
It was midnight when he was too restless to sleep, the sound of the insects in the distance, chirping. He stood grabbing a shawl, avoiding stepping on his siblings. And like old times, stepped out onto the beach. He went to find him, and he didn't walk far until he saw a body in the distance, he saw that long curly black hair in a bun, and broad strong shoulders. He walked up to him, watching as he stared into the ocean waves "Aonung, what are you doing up?" clutching his woven shawl, shocked to see the other half of him look so lost in thought. He sighed and turned a sad and anguished face to Neteyam, who got down and sat by his side. "What is wrong my love, this isn't like you" he said looking to the ocean. Aonung stared at his vacant expression, admiring his beauty and his golden eyes lit up in the night. "I hate to see you suffer because of my selfish actions" Neteyam smiled at the waves and his silly words "It isn't your fault, how were you to know? Eywa has a funny way of showing her love, we have to trust in her" Aonung felt soothed hearing his mate.
Neteyam continued "don't you know i did this. It was me" he was confused "what do you mean? How could you do this?" He finally looked to Aonung and spoke full of emotion yet very calm. "I used to be so upset, that I couldn't give you a family, that you would never have a full life." he frowned at his mate feeling this way, he wanted to take it all back and tell past him, more often, how much he needed him. "I hated that I would hold you back, I would cry and beg, that I could somehow make you happy. I think eywa felt my pain, and heard my cries. She has done this for a reason." he listened carefully "It took a while for me to realise, but i know i need to be grateful" Neteyam leaned on his shoulder and closed his eyes absorbing his heat. Aonung sat with him like that for a long time. Neteyam lifted his head after a few minutes and pressed his lips against his. Aonung had no idea how much he missed being alone with him like this. Their kiss deepend until he was straddling Aonung and breathing in his scent. "Aonung, i need you to be with me." he didn't hesitate to press him down gently and undo his loincloth. He placed a hand over his womb, and slid it to his waist. Landing a kiss on his forehead, he connected their queues. They held each other that night passionately, with a new found understanding of the other having communicated. "I love you Aonung" he said as Aonung pushed in and out of him. "My neteyam" he said gently, as Neteyam and him shared an orgasm. They held each other and looked into eachothers eyes, slowly removing their queues, Neteyam shivering at the disconnect. The tide had come up and without them realising the waves washed up slowly engulfing them.
Aonung and Neteyam laughed hysterically, Aonung picking him up. The water touched their feet, their backs covered in wet sand. He held him by the waist and spun him around and around in the air, gently putting him down and holding his hands. They were so endlessly in love. As their world shifted underneath their feet, they knew it would be okay because when they were together, they were home.
