The Metkayina girls were beautiful, long curly hair, light eyes and bright smiles that were all for him. But aonung couldn't be happy amongst them, he wanted to be with Neteyam or to even have one more minute with him in his lap. It was going to be hard for him to get his feelings across to a moron like him but he thought it was worth a try tonight if time allowed for it. His yellow piercing eyes wouldn't stop showing up in his head. The time was almost right, he needed to get away from these girls. He looked in the crowd that had formed but couldn't see him anywhere, "are you even listening?" they asked and giggled "yes of course, go on" he said politely. He wasn't the least bit interested in what they were saying but feigned interest and asked questions. The other Metkayina boys were jealous of all the attention he was getting and went up to join them. "Hi girls" they said, continuing to flirt. Aonung took this opportunity to escape and excused himself quietly. He ran around endlessly searching, until he spotted his midnight blue skin and yellow eyes in the crowd.

Neteyam lit up when he saw the other boy "I got away, i came to join you guys" he said
sitting down next to Neteyam and the others. Neteyam turned his head, "Aonung i thought you were with those girls, especially that one Meri" he said nudging him in fake congratulations "nah, i'm not interested in them" he looked meaningfully over to Neteyam, "there will come a time when that will change bro" Neteyam added, laughing. Aonung went silent then said "You're right, I could have any of the girls I wanted couldn't I?" neteyam looked over at him, slightly shocked at this comment although he expected it to be said at one point. "Yeah yeah, you're the total catch" he rolled his eyes "what? Jealous?" Aonung said, raising a brow, "Of course not, I'm happy for you" Neteyam said looking at the sky as lonely feelings took over his heart. Kiri and Rotxo sat and pointed at constellations, Tsireya and Loak waited, hands secretly intertwined.

It became silent as he felt like there was nothing to be said between the two boys, so Neteyam focused on the stars, he noticed the moons and the green aurora that swirled around like a serpent. He smiled to himself, completely unaware of the boy next to him, for the first time in a long time he decided that it was time to be present. To stop dreaming frivolous love stories up and making things up from little slithers of interactions, he needed to be there for his friend when it was time to find a mate- as a friend. He knew he needed to let it go, and stop dreaming of a friend in that way.

A twinkle in the night sky happened, and then another and another "It's happening Neteyam" he said into his ear. His eyes widened, he's never called him that before. He looked into his eyes for a clue, an indistinguishable emotion, tension running through them. They sit in each other's company and silence "Make a wish" Neteyam says breaking the silence, "A wish? What do you mean?" he asks "My dad used to tell me it's a good luck thing to wish on stars" it went silent and the meteors subsided "what did you wish for?" Aonung said curiously "oh, i didn't have time" he said feeling silly "but you have something you wish for don't you?" "Yes, I wished that I could forever feel.. good..not constantly afflicted with bad luck" Aonung reached down and grabbed Neteyam's hand, bringing it between his own and closing his eyes. "What are you doing!" he said, alarmed by the sudden touch. "I'm wishing for you" he said, eyes still closed. "Don't curse me now Aonung" he joked, Aonung opened his eyes to look into Neteyam's "do you feel any better?" he smirked knowing how he stirred up Neteyams insides. He awkwardly pulled his hand away, "i'll let you know, give it a couple days to work"

He could barely keep his eyes open as Aonung walked him back to his marui, he was so tired from the event. "Go to sleep now forest boy" "goodnight" he bid farewell and crashed onto his pod. Loak came in noisily laughing and saying goodnight to Tsireya. He lay there quietly, too tired to talk anymore. "How was it?" his mum asks, he rolls over to face her "it was so beautiful, the dancers reminded me of the forest and how we used to dance" she smiled proudly and touched his face, leaving to go to bed. Loak came over and bounced up and down "dude you were so drunk" "go away you skxawng" he rolled over covering himself in a woven blanket. It didn't take long to fall asleep.
